In this paper we prove new embedding results for compactly supported deformations of CR submanifolds of Cn+d: We show that if M is a 2-pseudoconcave CR submanifold of type (n,d) in Cn+d, then any compactly supported CR deformation stays in the space of globally CR embeddable in Cn+d manifolds. This improves an earlier result, where M was assumed to be a quadratic 2-pseudoconcave CR submanifold of Cn+d. We also give examples of weakly 2-pseudoconcave CR manifolds admitting compactly supported CR deformations that are not even locally CR embeddable.

In [8], Hitchin proved that a compact K/ihlerian twistor space is in fact a projective algebraic manifold. Moreover, it is the twistor space associated to either the Euclidean 4-sphere S 4 or the complex projective plane CF 2 with Fubini-Study metric. The twistor spaces are 3 and the flag of lines in~ p2 respectively. In [10, 11], the author proved the existence of self-dual metric with positive scalar curvature on the connected-sums of two or three copies of the complex projective planes. Their twistor spaces are Moish6zon spaces. In fact, they are the small resolution of the intersection of two quadrics in~ ps with four nodes and the double covering of CP 3 branched along a quartic with thirteen nodes. Recently, the joint work of Donaldson and Friedman [3] produced a general procedure to construct new twistor spaces and hence self-dual manifolds. We discuss the Kodaira problem for uniruled Kähler spaces. Building on a construction due to Voisin, we give an example of a uniruled Kähler space X such that every run of the K_X-MMP immediately terminates with a Mori fibre space, yet X does not admit an algebraic approximation. Our example also shows that for a Mori fibration, approximability of the base does not imply approximability of the total space.

We study analytic integrable deformations of the germ of a holomorphic foliation given by df=0 at the origin 0∈Cn,n≥3. We consider the case where f is a germ of an irreducible and reduced holomorphic function. Our central hypotheses is that, outside of a dimension ≤n−3 analytic subset Y⊂X, the analytic hypersurface Xf:(f=0) has only normal crossings singularities. We then prove that, as germs, such deformations also exhibit a holomorphic first integral, depending analytically on the parameter of the deformation. This applies to the study of integrable germs writing as ω=df+fη where f is quasi-homogeneous. Under the same hypotheses for Xf:(f=0) we prove that ω also admits a holomorphic first integral. Finally, we conclude that an integrable germ ω=adf+fη admits a holomorphic first integral provided that: (i) Xf:(f=0) is irreducible with an isolated singularity at the origin 0∈Cn,n≥3; (ii) the algebraic multiplicities of ω and f at the origin satisfy ν(ω)=ν(df). In the case of an isolated singularity for (f=0) the writing ω=adf+fη is always assured so that we conclude the existence of a holomorphic first integral. Some questions related to Relative Cohomology are naturally considered and not all of them answered.

The concept of a selfdual connection on a fourdimensional Riemannian manifold is generalized to the 4ndimensional case of any quaternionic Khler manifold. The generalized selfdual connections are minima of a modified YangMills functional. It is shown that our definitions give a correct framework for a mapping theory of quaternionic Khler manifolds. The mapping theory is closely related to the construction of YangMills fields on such manifolds. Some monopolelike equations are discussed.

The aim of this work is to construct examples of pairs whose logarithmic cotangent bundles have strong positivity properties. These examples are constructed from any smooth $n$-dimensional complex projective varieties by considering the sum of at least $n$ general sufficiently ample hypersurfaces.

This note answers some questions on holomorphic curves and their distribution in an algebraic surface of positive index. More specifically, we exploit the existence of natural negatively curved "pseudo-Finsler" metrics on a surface S of general type whose Chern numbers satisfy c(2)1>2c2 to show that a holomorphic map of a Riemann surface to S whose image is not in any rational or elliptic curve must satisfy a distance decreasing property with respect to these metrics. We show as a consequence that such a map extends over isolated punctures. So assuming that the Riemann surface is obtained from a compact one of genus q by removing a finite number of points, then the map is actually algebraic and defines a compact holomorphic curve in S. Furthermore, the degree of the curve with respect to a fixed polarization is shown to be bounded above by a multiple of q - 1 irrespective of the map.

For families of continuous plurisubharmonic functions we show that, in a local sense, separately bounded above implies bounded above.

This paper solves the problem of computing conformal structures of general 2-manifolds represented as triangle meshes. We compute conformal structures in the following way: first compute homology bases from simplicial complex structures, then construct dual cohomology bases and diffuse them to harmonic 1-forms. Next, we construct bases of holomorphic differentials. We then obtain period matrices by integrating holomorphic differentials along homology bases. We also study the global conformal mapping between genus zero surfaces and spheres, and between general meshes and planes. Our method of computing conformal structures can be applied to tackle fundamental problems in computer aid design and computer graphics, such as geometry classification and identification, and surface global parametrization.

We show that the angles between Teichmüller geodesic rays issuing from a common point, defined by using the law of cosines, do not always exist. The proof uses an estimation for the Teichmüller distance on finite dimensional Teichmüller spaces. As a consequence, the Teichmüller space equipped with the Teichmüller metric is not a CAT(k) space for any k∈R . We also discuss some necessary conditions for the existence of angle between the Teichmüller geodesics.
