We study the cluster combinatorics of d-cluster tilting objects in d-cluster categories. Using mutations of maximal rigid objects in d-cluster categories, which are defined in a similar way to mutations for d-cluster tilting objects, we prove the equivalences between d-cluster tilting objects, maximal rigid objects and complete rigid objects. Using the chain of d+1 triangles of d-cluster tilting objects in [O. Iyama, Y. Yoshino, Mutations in triangulated categories and rigid Cohen–Macaulay modules, Invent. Math. 172 (1) (2008) 117–168], we prove that any almost complete d-cluster tilting object has exactly d+1 complements, compute the extension groups between these complements, and study the middle terms of these d+1 triangles. All results are the extensions of corresponding results on cluster tilting objects in cluster categories established for d-cluster categories in [A. Buan, R. Marsh, M. Reineke, I. Reiten, G. Todorov, Tilting theory and cluster combinatorics, Adv. Math. 204 (2006) 572–618]. They are applied to the Fomin–Reading generalized cluster complexes of finite root systems defined and studied in [S. Fomin, N. Reading, Generalized cluster complexes and Coxeter combinatorics, Int. Math. Res. Not. 44 (2005) 2709–2757; H. Thomas, Defining an m-cluster category, J. Algebra 318 (2007) 37–46; K. Baur, R. Marsh, A geometric description of m-cluster categories, Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. 360 (2008) 5789–5803; K. Baur, R. Marsh, A geometric description of the m-cluster categories of type D_n, preprint, arXiv:math.RT/0610512; see also Int. Math. Res. Not. 2007 (2007), doi:10.1093/imrn/rnm011], and to that of infinite root systems [B. Zhu, Generalized cluster complexes via quiver representations, J. Algebraic Combin. 27 (2008) 25–54].

The unipotent variety of a reductive algebraic group G plays an important role in the representation theory. In this paper, we will consider the closure U of the unipotent variety in the De ConciniProcesi compactification G of a connected simple algebraic group G. We will prove that U-U is a union of some G-stable pieces introduced by Lusztig in [Moscow Math. J 4 (2004) 869896]. This was first conjectured by Lusztig. We will also give an explicit description of U. It turns out that similar results hold for the closure of any Steinberg fiber in G.

We study a class of perverse sheaves on some spherical varieties which include the strata of the De ConciniProcesi completion of a symmetric variety. This is a generalization of the theory of (parabolic) character sheaves.

We give a new description of the set {m Adm}(\mu) of admissible alcoves as an intersection of certain``obtuse cones''of alcoves, and we show this description may be given by imposing conditions vertexwise. We use this to prove the vertexwise admissibility conjecture of Pappas-Rapoport-Smithling. The same idea gives simple proofs of two ingredients used in the proof of the Kottwitz-Rapoport conjecture on existence of crystals with additional structure.

Let <i>G</i> be a semisimple adjoint group over <b>C</b> and <i></i> be the De ConciniProcesi completion of <i>G</i>. In this paper, we define a Lagrangian subvariety of the cotangent bundle of <i></i> such that the singular support of any character sheaf on <i></i> is contained in .

We give a geometric realization, the tagged rotation, of the AR-translation on the generalized cluster category associated to a surface S with marked points and non-empty boundary, which generalizes Brüstle–Zhang’s result for the puncture free case. As an application, we show that the intersection of the shifts in the 3-Calabi–Yau derived category D(Γ_S) associated to the surface and the corresponding Seidel–Thomas braid group of D(Γ_S) is empty, unless S is a polygon with at most one puncture (i.e. of type A or D).

Let G be a semisimple group over an algebraically closed field. Steinberg has associated to a Coxeter element G of minimal length G a subvariety G of G isomorphic to an affine space of dimension G which meets the regular unipotent class G in exactly one point. In this paper this is generalized to the case where G is replaced by any elliptic element in the Weyl group of minimal length G in its conjugacy class, G is replaced by a subvariety G of G isomorphic to an affine space of dimension G , and G is replaced by a unipotent class G of codimension G in such a way that the intersection of G and G is finite.

In this paper, we discuss some partitions of affine flag varieties. These partitions include as special cases the partition of affine flag variety into affine Deligne-Lusztig varieties and the affine analogue of the partition of flag varieties into $\cb_w (b) $ introduced by Lusztig in\cite {L1} as part of the definition of character sheaves.

In this paper, we study some relation between the cocenter H(G) of the Hecke algebra H (G) of a connected reductive group G over a nonarchimedean local field and the cocenter H(M) of its Levi subgroups M. Given any Newton component of H(G), we construct the induction map i from the corresponding Newton component of H(M) to it. We show that this map is an isomorphism. This leads to the BernsteinLusztig type presentation of the cocenter H(G), which generalizes the work [11] on the affine Hecke algebras. We also show that the map i we constructed is adjoint to the Jacquet functor.

Let G ⊆ \tilde{G} be two quasisplit connected reductive groups over a local field of characteristic zero and having the same derived group. Although the existence of L-packets is still conjectural in general, it is believed that the L-packets of G should be the restriction of those of \tilde{G}. Motivated by this, we hope to construct the L-packets of \tilde{G} from those of G. The primary example in our mind is when G = Sp(2n), whose L-packets have been determined by Arthur [The endoscopic classification of representations: orthogonal and symplectic groups, Colloquium Publications, vol. 61 (American Mathematical Society, Providence, RI, 2013)], and \tilde{G} = GSp(2n). As a first step, we need to consider some well-known conjectural properties of L-packets. In this paper, we show how they can be deduced from the conjectural endoscopy theory. As an application, we obtain some structural information about L-packets of \tilde{G} from those of G.

Let W a be an affine Weyl group and : W a W 0 be the natural projection to the corresponding finite Weyl group. We say that w W a has finite Coxeter part if (w) is conjugate to a Coxeter element of W 0. The elements with finite Coxeter part are a union of conjugacy classes of W a. We show that for each conjugacy class O of W a with finite Coxeter part there exists a unique maximal proper parabolic subgroup W J of W a, such that the set of minimal length elements in O is exactly the set of Coxeter elements in W J. Similar results hold for twisted conjugacy classes.

We study extension spaces, cotorsion pairs and their mutations in the cluster category of a marked surface without punctures. Under the one-to-one correspondence between the curves, valued closed curves in the marked surface and the indecomposable objects in the associated cluster category, we prove that the dimension of extension space of two indecomposable objects in the cluster categories equals to the intersection number of the corresponding curves. By using this result, we prove that there are no non-trivial t-structures in the cluster categories when the surface is connected. Based on this result, we give a classification of cotorsion pairs in these categories. Moreover we define the notion of paintings of a marked surface without punctures and their rotations. They are a geometric model of cotorsion pairs and of their mutations respectively.

Il s’ensuit en particulier que le foncteur de contraction par Frobenius préserve le caractère injectif et l’existence de bonne filtration mais pas la semi-simplicité. (For a reductive group G defined over an algebraically closed field of positive characteristic, we show that the Frobenius contraction functor of $Gs-modules is right adjoint to the Frobenius twist of the modules tensored with the Steinberg module twice. It follows that the Frobenius contraction functor preserves injectivity, good filtrations, but not semi-simplicity.)

Let G be a connected semi-simple algebraic group of adjoint type over an algebraically closed field and let ar G be the wonderful compactification of G. For a fixed pair (B,B  ) of opposite Borel subgroups of G, we look at intersections of Lusztigs G-stable pieces and the B  B-orbits in ar G , as well as intersections of BB-orbits and B  B  -orbits in ar G . We give explicit conditions for such intersections to be nonempty, and in each case, we show that every nonempty intersection is smooth and irreducible, that the closure of the intersection is equal to the intersection of the closures, and that the nonempty intersections form a strongly admissible partition of .

We prove that the DeligneLusztig variety associated to minimal length elements in any <i></i>-conjugacy class of the Weyl group is affine, which was conjectured by Orlik and Rapoport in [S. Orlik, M. Rapoport, DeligneLusztig varieties and period domains over finite fields, arXiv: 0705.1646].

We reduce some key calculations of compositions of morphisms between Soergel bimodules (" Soergel calculus") to calculations in the nil Hecke ring (" Schubert calculus"). This formula has several applications in modular representation theory.

The cocenter of an affine Hecke algebra plays an important role in the study of representations of the affine Hecke algebra and the geometry of affine DeligneLusztig varieties (see for example, He and Nie in Compos Math 150(11):19031927, 2014; He in Ann Math 179:367404, 2014; Ciubotaru and He in Cocenter and representations of affine Hecke algebras, 2014). In this paper, we give a BernsteinLusztig type presentation of the cocenter. We also obtain a comparison theorem between the class polynomials of the affine Hecke algebra and those of its parabolic subalgebras, which is an algebraic analog of the HodgeNewton decomposition theorem for affine DeligneLusztig varieties. As a consequence, we present a new proof of the emptiness pattern of affine DeligneLusztig varieties (Grtz et al. in Compos Math 146(5):13391382, 2010; Grtz et al. in Ann Sci cole Norm Sup, 2012).

There are two changes in comparison to the original version: Part (1). The union must be split up according to Jb/(Jb Ker (G)). This is also important for the description of the closure relations between strata: An analogous correction needs to be made in Prop. 7.2. 2. See Section 3 below.

Let <i>H</i> denote a spherical subgroup within a semisimple algebraic group <i>G</i>. In this paper we study the closures of the finitely many <i>H</i>-orbits in the flag variety of <i>G</i>. Using the language of Frobenius splitting we provide a criterion for these closures to have nice geometric and cohomological properties. We then show how the criterion applies to the spherical subgroups of minimal rank studied by N. Ressayre. Finally, we also provide applications of the criterion to orbit closures which are not multiplicity-free in the sense defined by M. Brion.

We classify the Ext-quivers of hearts in the bounded derived category D(A_n) and the finite-dimensional derived category D(\Gamma_N A_n) of the Calabi-Yau-N Ginzburg algebra D(\Gamma_N A_n). This provides the classification for Buan-Thomas' colored quiver for higher clusters of A-type. We also give explicit combinatorial constructions from a binary tree with n+2 leaves to a torsion pair in mod k\overrightarrow{A_n} and a cluster tilting set in the corresponding cluster category, for the straight oriented A-type quiver \overrightarrow{A_n}. As an application, we show that the orientation of the n-dimensional ssociahedron induced by poset structure of binary trees coincides with the orientation induced by poset structure of torsion pairs in mod k\overrightarrow{A_n} (under the correspondence above).

We study the nonnegative part \overline {G_ {&gt; 0}} of the De Concini-Procesi compactification of a semisimple algebraic group \overline {G_ {&gt; 0}} , as defined by Lusztig. Using positivity properties of the canonical basis and parametrization of flag varieties, we will give an explicit description of \overline {G_ {&gt; 0}} . This answers the question of Lusztig in Total positivity and canonical bases, Algebraic groups and Lie groups (ed. GI Lehrer), Cambridge Univ. Press, 1997, pp. 281-295. We will also prove that \overline {G_ {&gt; 0}} has a cell decomposition which was conjectured by Lusztig.

We determine a basis of the (twisted) cocenter of graded affine Hecke algebras with arbitrary parameters. In this setting, we prove that the kernel of the (twisted) trace map is the commutator subspace (the Density theorem) and that the image is the space of good forms (the trace PaleyWiener theorem).

We study the minimal length elements in some double cosets of Coxeter groups and use them to study Lusztig's <i>G</i>-stable pieces and the generalization of <i>G</i>-stable pieces introduced by Lu and Yakimov. We also use them to study the minimal length elements in a conjugacy class of a finite Coxeter group and prove a conjecture in [M. Geck, S. Kim, G. Pfeiffer, Minimal length elements in twisted conjugacy classes of finite Coxeter groups, J. Algebra 229 (2) (2000) 570600].

We describe an inductive machinery to prove various properties of representations of a category equipped with a generic shift functor. Specifically, we show that if a property (P) of representations of the category behaves well under the generic shift functor, then all finitely generated representations of the category have the property (P). In this way, we obtain simple criteria for properties such as Noetherianity, finiteness of Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity, and polynomial growth of dimension to hold. This gives a systemetic and uniform proof of such properties for representations of the categories $\FI_G$ and $\OI_G$ which appear in representation stability theory.
