We prove that the quotient space of a variationally complete group action is a good Riemannian orbifold. The result is generalized to singular Riemannian foliations without horizontal conjugate points.

This is the third and final article in a series which prove the fact that a K-stable Fano manifold admits a Khler-Einstein metric. In this paper we consider the Gromov-Hausdorff limits of metrics with cone singularities in the case when the limiting cone angle approaches 2\pi . We also put all our technical results together to complete the proof of the main theorem.

For compact Riemannian manifolds all of whose geodesics are closed (aka Zoll manifolds) one can define the determinant of a zeroth order pseudodifferential operator by mimicking Szego’s definition of this determinant for the operator: multiplication by a bounded function, on the Hilbert space of square-integrable functions on the circle. In this paper we prove that the non-local contribution to this determinant can be computed in terms of a much simpler “zeta-regularized” determinant.

By studying modular invariance properties of some characteristic forms, we get some new anomaly cancellation formulas on (4 r 1) dimensional manifolds. As an application, we derive some results on divisibilities of the index of Toeplitz operators on (4 r 1) dimensional spin manifolds and some congruent formulas on characteristic number for (4 r 1) dimensional spin c manifolds.
