We show that the logarithmic derivatives of the convolution heat kernels on a uni-modular Lie group are exponentially integrable. This result is then used to prove an “integrated” Harnack inequality for these heat kernels. It is shown that this integrated Harnack inequality is equivalent to a version of Wang’s Harnack inequality. (A key feature of all of these inequalities is that they are dimension independent.) Finally, we show these inequalities imply quasi-invariance properties of heat kernel measures for two classes of infinite dimensional “Lie” groups.

In this paper, we extend the work in \cite{D}\cite{ChrusLiWe}\cite{ChrusCo}\cite{Co}. We weaken the asymptotic conditions on the second fundamental form, and we also give an $L^{6}-$norm bound for the difference between general data and Extreme Kerr data or Extreme Kerr-Newman data by proving convexity of the renormalized Dirichlet energy when the target has non-positive curvature. In particular, we give the first proof of the strict mass/angular momentum/charge inequality for axisymmetric Einstein/Maxwell data which is not identical with the extreme Kerr-Newman solution.

In this paper, we build properly embedded singly periodic minimal surfaces which have infinite total curvature in the quotient by their period. These surfaces are constructed by adding a handle to the toroidal half-plane layers defined by H. Karcher. The technics that we use are to solve a Jenkins-Serrin problem over a strip domain and to consider the conjugate minimal surface to the graph. To construct the Jenkins Serrin graph, we solve in fact the maximal surface equation and use an other conjugation technic.

In this paper we investigate a kind of generalized Ricci flow which possesses a gradient form. We study the monotonicity of the given function under the generalized Ricci flow and prove that the related system of partial differential equations are strictly and uniformly parabolic. Based on this, we show that the generalized Ricci flow defined on an n-dimensional compact Riemannian manifold admits a unique short-time smooth solution. Moreover, we also derive the evolution equations for the curvatures, which play an important role in our future study.

In 1969, Vic Klee asked whether a convex body is uniquely determined (up to translation and reflection in the origin) by its inner section function, the function giving for each direction the maximal area of sections of the body by hyperplanes orthogonal to that direction. We answer this question in the negative by constructing two infinitely smooth convex bodies of revolution about the xn-axis in Rn, n  3, one origin symmetric and the other not centrally symmetric, with the same inner section function. Moreover, the pair of bodies can be arbitrarily close to the unit ball.
