DNA microarray analysis has emerged as a leading technology to enhance our understanding of gene regulation and function in cellular mechanism controls on a genomic scale. This technology has advanced to unravel the genetic machinery of biological rhythms by collecting massive gene-expression data in a time course. Here, we present a statistical model for clustering periodic patterns of gene expression in terms of different transcriptional profiles. The model incorporates biologically meaningful Fourier series approximations of gene periodic expression into a mixture-model-based likelihood function, thus producing results that are likely to be closer to biological relevance, as compared to those from existing models. Also because the structures of the time-dependent means and covariance matrix are modeled, the new approach displays increased statistical power and precision of parameter estimation. The

Gravitational waves are predicted by the general theory of relativity. In [6] D. Christodoulou showed that gravitational waves have a nonlinear memory. We proved in [3] that the electromagnetic field contributes at highest order to the nonlinear memory effect of gravitational waves. In the present paper, we study this electromagnetic Christodoulou memory effect and compute it for binary neutron star mergers. These are typical sources of gravitational radiation. During these processes, not only mass and momenta are radiated away in form of gravitational waves, but also very strong magnetic fields are produced and radiated away. Thus the observed effect on test masses of a laser interferometer gravitational wave detector will be enlarged by the contribution of the electromagnetic field. Therefore, the present results are important for the planned experiments. Looking at the null asymptotics of spacetimes, which are solutions of the Einstein-Maxwell (EM) equations, we derived in [3] the electromagnetic Christodoulou memory effect. Moreover, our results allow to answer astro-physical questions, as the knowledge about the amount of energy radiated away in a neutron star binary merger enables us to gain information about the source of the gravitational waves.

In this article, the authors cryptanalyze a k-out-of-n oblivious transfer protocol proposed in [12]. Their protocol is one of the most efficient k-out-of-n oblivious transfer protocols and is directly built from a 1-out-of-n oblivious transfer protocol. However, their analysis shows that the proposed k-out-of-n oblivious transfer protocol is insecure, though the primitive 1-out-of-n oblivious transfer protocol is secure. The weakness is that with high probability the receiver in their protocol can get all n secret messages encrypted by the sender. Finally, they fix the serious flaw and introduce an improved k-out-of-n oblivious transfer protocol without increasing any cost.

The leading term of the ground state energy/particle of a dilute gas of bosons with mass m in the thermodynamic limit is $ 2\pi \hbar^2 a \varrho/m$ when the density of the gas is $ \varrho$, the interaction potential is non-negative and the scattering length $a$ is positive. In this paper, we generalize the upper bound part of this result to any interaction potential with positive scattering length, i.e, $a > 0$ and the lower bound part to some interaction potentials with shallow and/or narrow negative parts.
