We introduce the notion of symplectic flatness for connections and fiber bundles over symplectic manifolds. Given an $A_\infty$-algebra, we present a flatness condition that enables the twisting of the differential complex associated with the $A_\infty$-algebra. The symplectic flatness condition arises from twisting the $A_\infty$-algebra of differential forms constructed by Tsai, Tseng and Yau. When the symplectic manifold is equipped with a compatible metric, the symplectic flat connections represent a special subclass of Yang-Mills connections. We further study the cohomologies of the twisted differential complex and give a simple vanishing theorem for them.

Discontinuous Galerkin (DG) methods combine features in finite element methods (weak formulation, finite dimensional solution and test function spaces) and in finite volume methods (numerical fluxes, nonlinear limiters) and are particularly suitable for simulating convection dominated problems, such as linear and nonlinear waves including shock waves. In this article we will give a brief survey of DG methods, emphasizing their applications in computational fluid dynamics (CFD). We will discuss essential ingredients and properties of DG methods, and will also give a few examples of recent developments of DG methods which have facilitated their applications in CFD.

We propose a formula for the exact central charge of a B-type D-brane that is expected to hold in all regions of the Kähler moduli space of a Calabi–Yau. For Landau–Ginzburg orbifolds we propose explicit expressions for the mathematical objects that enter into the central charge formula. We show that our results are consistent with results in FJRW theory and the hemisphere partition function of the gauged linear sigma model.
