We construct relative and global Euler sequences of a module. We apply it to prove some acyclicity results of the Koszul complex of a module and to compute the cohomology of the sheaves of (relative and absolute) differential $p$ -forms of a projective bundle. In particular we generalize Bott’s formula for the projective space to a projective bundle over a scheme of characteristic zero.

Surface conformal maps between genus-0 surfaces play important roles in applied mathematics and engineering, with applications in medical image analysis and computer graphics. Previous work (Gu and Yau in Commun Inf Syst 2(2):121–146, 2002) introduces a variational approach, where global conformal parameterization of genus-0 surfaces was addressed through minimizing the harmonic energy, with two weaknesses: its gradient descent iteration is slow, and its solutions contain undesired parameterization foldings when the underlying surface has long sharp features. In this paper, we propose an algorithm that significantly accelerates the harmonic energy minimization and a method that iteratively removes foldings by taking advantages of the weighted Laplace–Beltrami eigen-projection. Experimental results show that the proposed approaches compute genus-0 surface harmonic maps much faster than the existing algorithm in Gu and Yau (Commun Inf Syst 2(2):121–146, 2002) and the new results contain no foldings.

Inspired by works of Castéras (Pac J Math 276:321–345, 2015), Li and Zhu (Calc Var Partial Differ Equ 58:1–18, 2019), Sun and Zhu (Calc Var Partial Differ Equ 60:1–26, 2021), we propose a heat flow for the mean field equation on a connected finite graph G=(V,E). Namely ∂_tϕ(u)=Δu−Q+ρ\frac{e^u}{∫_V e^u dμ} u(⋅,0)=u_0, where Δ is the standard graph Laplacian, ρ is a real number, Q:V→R is a function satisfying ∫_V Qdμ=ρ, and ϕ:R→R is one of certain smooth functions including ϕ(s)=es. We prove that for any initial data u_0 and any ρ∈R, there exists a unique solution u:V×[0,+∞)→R of the above heat flow; moreover, u(x, t) converges to some function u_∞:V→R uniformly in x∈V as t→+∞, and u_∞ is a solution of the mean field equation Δu_∞−Q+ρ\frac{e^{u_∞}}{∫_V e^{u_∞}dμ}=0. Though G is a finite graph, this result is still unexpected, even in the special case Q≡0. Our approach reads as follows: the short time existence of the heat flow follows from the ODE theory; various integral estimates give its long time existence; moreover we establish a Lojasiewicz–Simon type inequality and use it to conclude the convergence of the heat flow.

In this article, a classification of continuous, linearly intertwining, symmetric $L_p$-Blaschke ($p>1$) valuations is established as an extension of Haberl's work on Blaschke valuations. More precisely, we show that for dimensions $n \geq 3$, the only continuous, linearly intertwining, normalized symmetric $L_p$-Blaschke valuation is the normalized $L_p$-curvature image operator, while for dimension $n = 2 $, a rotated normalized $L_p$-curvature image operator is an only additional one. One of the advantages of our approach is that we deal with normalized symmetric $L_p$-Blaschke valuations, which makes it possible to handle the case $p=n$. The cases where $p \neq =n$ are also discussed by studying the relations between symmetric $L_p$-Blaschke valuations and normalized ones.
