We supply a detailed proof of the result by P.S. Green and T. H$\ddot{\text{u}}$bsch that all complete intersection Calabi--Yau 3-folds in product of projective spaces are connected through projective conifold transitions (known as the standard web). We also introduce a subclass of small transitions which we call \emph{primitive} small transitions and study such subclass. More precisely, given a small projective resolution $\pi : \widehat{X} \rightarrow X$ of a Calabi--Yau 3-fold $X$, we show that if the natural closed immersion $\Def(\widehat{X}) \hookrightarrow \Def(X)$ is an isomorphism then $X$ has only ODPs as singularities.

Topological qauntum field theory(TQFT) is a very powerful theoretical tool to study topological phases and phase transitions. In 2+1D, it is well known that the Chern-Simons theory captures all the universal topological data of topological phases, e.g., quasi-particle braiding statistics, chiral central charge and even provides us a deep insight for the nature of topological phase transitions. Recently, topological phases of quantum matter are also intensively studied in 3+1D and it has been shown that loop like excitation obeys the so-called three-loop-braiding statistics. In this paper, we will try to establish a TQFT framework to understand the quantum statistics of particle and loop like excitation in 3+1D. We will focus on Abelian topological phases for simplicity, however, the general framework developed here is not limited to Abelian topological phases.

Corresponding to the Legendre ellipsoid and the LYZ ellipsoid, two new sine ellipsoids are introduced in this paper. These four ellipsoids are closely related in the Pythagorean relation and duality. Several volume inequalities and the valuation properties are obtained for two new ellipsoids.

The representation category of a conformal net is a unitary modular tensor category. We investigate the reconstruction program: whether all unitary modular tensor categories are representation categories of conformal nets. We give positive evidence: the fruitful theory of multi-interval Jones-Wassermann subfactors on conformal nets is also true for modular tensor categories. We construct multi-interval Jones-Wassermann subfactors for unitary modular tensor categories. We prove that these subfactors are symmetrically self-dual. It generalizes and categorifies the self-duality of finite abelian groups. We call this duality the modular self-duality, because the modularity of the modular tensor category appears in a crucial way. For each unitary modular tensor category, we obtain a sequence of unitary fusion categories. The cyclic group case gives examples of Tambara-Yamagami categories.
