A generation of symbols asserted for n ≥ 0 in the proof of Theorem 3.3 of the original paper in fact only holds for n > 0, thus undermining the proof of the theorem. In this paper we investigate the life-span of classical solutions to the hyperbolic geometric flow in two space variables with slow decay initial data. By establishing some new estimates on the solutions of linear wave equations in two space variables, we give a lower bound of the life-span of classical solutions to the hyperbolic geometric flow with asymptotic flat initial Riemann surfaces.

We apply various topological methods to distinguish connected components of moduli spaces of complete Riemannian metrics of nonnegative sectional curvature on open manifolds. The new geometric ingredient is that souls of nearby nonnegatively curved metrics are ambiently isotopic.

In this paper, we first obtain the sub-Laplacian comparison theorem in a complete noncompact pseudohermitian manifold of vanishing torsion (i.e. Sasakian manifold). Secondly, we derive the sub-gradient estimate for positive pseudoharmonic functions in a complete noncompact pseudohermitian manifold which satisfies the CR sub-Laplacian comparison property. It is served as the CR analogue of Yauís gradient estimate. As a consequence, we have the natural CR analogue of Liouville-type theorems in a complete noncompact Sasakian manifold of nonnegative pseudohermitian Ricci curvature tensors.

In this paper, we study the shape of the min-max minimal hypersurface produced by Almgren-Pitts-Schoen-Simon \cite{AF62, AF65, P81, SS81} in a Riemannian manifold $(M^{n+1}, g)$ of positive Ricci curvature for all dimensions. The min-max hypersurface has a singular set of Hausdorff codimension $7$. We characterize the Morse index, area and multiplicity of this singular min-max hypersurface. In particular, we show that the min-max hypersurface is either orientable and has Morse index one, or is a double cover of a non-orientable stable minimal hypersurface. As an essential technical tool, we prove a stronger version of the discretization theorem. The discretization theorem, first developed by Marques-Neves in their proof of the Willmore conjecture \cite{MN12}, is a bridge to connect sweepouts appearing naturally in geometry to sweepouts used in the min-max theory. Our result removes a critical assumption of \cite{MN12}, called the no mass concentration condition, and hence confirms a conjecture by Marques-Neves in \cite{MN12}.
