In this note, we show that the solution to the Dirichlet problem for the minimal surface system in any codimension is unique in the space of distance-decreasing maps. This follows as a corollary of the following stability theorem: if a minimal submanifold $\sum$  is the graph of a (strictly) distance-decreasing map, then  $\sum$ is (strictly) stable. It is known that a minimal graph of codimension one is stable without assuming the distance-decreasing condition. We give another criterion for the stability in terms of the two-Jacobians of the map which in particular covers the codimension one case. All theorems are proved in the more general setting for minimal maps between Riemannian manifolds. The complete statements of the results appear in Theorem 3.1, Theorem 3.2, and Theorem 4.1.

Let (Mn, g) be a complete non-compact K¨ahler manifold with non-negative and bounded holomorphic bisectional curvature. We prove that M is holomorphically covered by a pseudoconvex domain in Cn which is homeomorphic to R2n, provided (Mn, g) has uniform linear average quadratic curvature decay.

In this article, we estimate the quasi-local energy with reference to the Minkowski spacetime (Wang and Yau in Phys Rev Lett 102 (2): 021101, 2009; Commun Math Phys 288 (3): 919942, 2009), the anti-de Sitter spacetime (Chen et al. in Commun Anal Geom, 2016. arXiv: 1603.02975), or the Schwarzschild spacetime (Chen et al. in Adv Theor Math Phys 22 (1): 123, 2018). In each case, the reference spacetime admits a conformal KillingYano 2-form which facilitates the application of the Minkowski formula in Wang et al.(J Differ Geom 105 (2): 249290, 2017) to estimate the quasi-local energy. As a consequence of the positive mass theorems in Liu and Yau (J Am Math Soc 19 (1): 181204, 2006) and Shi and Tam (Class Quantum Gravity 24 (9): 23572366, 2007) and the above estimate, we obtain rigidity theorems which characterize the Minkowski spacetime and the hyperbolic space.

We prove the nonexistence of stable immersed minimal surfaces uniformly conformally equivalent to $ \mathbb{C}$ in any complete orientable four-dimensional Riemannian manifold with uniformly positive isotropic curvature. We also generalize the same nonexistence result to higher dimensions provided that the ambient manifold has uniformly positive complex sectional curvature. The proof consists of two parts: assuming an ``eigenvalue condition'' on the $ \overline {\partial }$-operator of a holomorphic bundle, we prove (1) a vanishing theorem for these holomorphic bundles on $ \mathbb{C}$ and (2) an existence theorem for holomorphic sections with controlled growth by Hörmander's weighted $L^2$-method.

In a series of works, one of the authors has developed with J.- M. Hwang a geometric theory of uniruled projective manifolds, especially those of Picard number 1, basing on the study of varieties of minimal rational tangents. A fundamental result in this theory is a principle of analytic continuation under very mild assumptions,called Cartan-Fubini extension, of biholomorphisms between connected open subsets of two Fano manifolds of Picard number 1 which preserve varieties of minimal rational tangents. In this article we develop a generalization of Cartan-Fubini extension for non-equidimensional holomorphic immersions from a connected open subset of a Fano manifold of Picard number 1 into a uniruled projective manifold, under the assumptions that the map sends varieties of minimal rational tangents onto linear sections of varieties of minimal rational tangents and that it satisfies a mild geometric condition formulated in terms of second fundamental forms on varieties of minimal rational tangents. Formerly such a result was known only in the very special case of irreducible Hermitian symmetric manifolds of rank at least two, and the proof relied on the existence of flattening coordinates, viz.,Harish-Chandra coordinates, with respect to which the varieties of minimal rational tangents form a constant family. The proof of the main result, which is based on the deformation theory of rational curves, is differential-geometric in nature and is applicable to the general situation of uniruled projective manifolds without any assumption on the existence of special coordinate systems. As an application, we give a characterization of standard embeddings for certain pairs of rational homogeneous manifolds in terms of embeddings of varieties of minimal rational tangents.
