Alexandrov proved that any simplicial complex homeomorphic to a sphere with strictly non-negative Gaussian curvature at each vertex can be isometrically embedded uniquely in {{\mathbb {R}}}^{3} as a convex polyhedron. Due to the nonconstructive nature of his proof, there have yet to be any algorithms, that we know of, that realizes the Alexandrov embedding in polynomial time. Following his proof, we developed the adiabatic isometric mapping (AIM) algorithm. AIM uses a guided adiabatic pull-back procedure on a given polyhedral metric to produce an embedding that approximates the unique Alexandrov polyhedron. Tests of AIM applied to two different polyhedral metrics suggests that its run time is sub cubic with respect to the number of vertices. In this paper, we extend our previous work to construct (0, 2) Toda-like mirrors to A/2-twisted theories on more general spaces, as part of a program of understanding (0,2) mirror symmetry. Specifically, we propose (0, 2) mirrors to GLSMs on toric del Pezzo surfaces and Hirzebruch surfaces with deformations of the tangent bundle. We check the results by comparing correlation functions, global symmetries, as well as geometric blowdowns with the corresponding (0, 2) Toda-like mirrors. We also briefly discuss Grassmannian manifolds.

We show that the Lieb-Liniger model for one-dimensional bosons with repulsive $\delta$-function interaction can be rigorously derived via a scaling limit from a dilute three-dimensional Bose gas with arbitrary repulsive interaction potential of finite scattering length. For this purpose, we prove bounds on both the eigenvalues and corresponding eigenfunctions of three-dimensional bosons in strongly elongated traps and relate them to the corresponding quantities in the Lieb-Liniger model. In particular, if both the scattering length $a$ and the radius $r$ of the cylindrical trap go to zero, the Lieb-Liniger model with coupling constant $g \sim a/r^2$ is derived. Our bounds are uniform in $g$ in the whole parameter range $0\leq g\leq \infty$, and apply to the Hamiltonian for three-dimensional bosons in a spectral window of size $\sim r^{-2}$ above the ground state energy.

This is the first of a series of papers in which we systematically use singularity theory to study four dimensional N= 2 superconformal field theories. Our main focus in this paper is to identify what kind of singularity is needed to define a SCFT. The constraint for a hypersurface singularity has been found by Sharpere and Vafa, and here the complete set of solutions are listed using a related mathematical result of Stephen ST Yau and Yu. We also study other type of singularities such as the complete intersection, quotient of hypersurface singularity by a finite group and non-isolated singularity. We finally conjecture that any three dimensional rational Gorenstein graded isolated singularity should define a N= 2 SCFT. We explain how to extract various interesting physical quantities such as Seiberg-Witten geometry, central charges, exact marginal deformations, BPS quiver, RG flow trajectory, etc from the properties of singularity.

In their proposed compactification of superstrings [4], Candelas, Horowitz, Strominger and Witten took the matric product of a maximal symmetric four dimensional spacetime M with a six dimensional CalabiYau vacua X as the ten dimensional spacetime; they identified the YangMills connection with the SU (3) connection of the CalabiYau metric and set the dilaton to be a constant. To make this theory compatible with the standard grand unified field theory, Witten [28] and HoravaWitten [20] proposed to use higher rank bundles for strong coupled heterotic string theory so that the gauge groups can be SU (4) or SU (5).
