Different from conventional spaceborne or airborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) with optimal aperture length, an imaging radar with highly suboptimal aperture length acquires the data in short bursts by a geometry spreading over a large range. A polarlike or pseudopolar format grid is introduced to sample data close to the resolution, which presents the design of a separable kernel for efficient FFT implementation. The proposed imaging algorithm formulates the reflectivity image of the target scene as an interpolation-free double image series expansion with two usual approximation-induced phase error terms being taken into account, whereby more generalized application scenarios with high frequency, large bandwidth or larger aperture length for imaging a target scene located within either the far-field or the near-field of the radar aperture are processable with high accuracy. In this paper, we consider the discontinuous Galerkin (DG) methods to solve linear hyperbolic equations with singular initial data. With the help of weight functions, the superconvergence properties outside the pollution region will be investigated. We show that, by using piecewise polynomials of degree $k$ and suitable initial discretizations, the DG solution is $(2k+1)$-th order accurate at the downwind points and $(k+2)$-th order accurate at all the other downwind-biased Radau points. Moreover, the derivative of error between the DG and exact solutions converges at a rate of $k+1$ at all the interior upwind-biased Radau points. Besides the above, the DG solution is also $(k+2)$-th order accurate towards a particular projection of the exact solution and the numerical cell averages are $(2k+1)$-th order accurate. Numerical experiments are presented to confirm the theoretical results.

To easily generalize the maximum-principle-satisfying schemes for scalar conservation laws to convection diffusion equations, we propose a non-conventional high order finite volume weighted essentially non-oscillatory (WENO) scheme which can be proven maximum-principle-satisfying. Two-dimensional extensions are straightforward. We also show that the same idea can be used to construct high order schemes preserving the maximum principle for two-dimensional incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in the vorticity stream-function formulation. Numerical tests for the fifth order WENO schemes are reported.

Wormhole propagation, arising in petroleum engineering, is used to describe the distribution of acid and the increase of porosity in carbonate reservoir under dissolution of injected acid. The important physical features of porosity and acid concentration include their boundedness between $0$ and $1$, as well as the monotone increasing for porosity. How to keep these properties in the simulation is crucial to the robustness of the numerical algorithm. In this paper, we propose high-order bound-preserving discontinuous Galerkin methods to keep these important physical properties. The main technique is to introduce a new variable $r$ to replace the original acid concentration and use a consistent flux pair to deduce a ghost equation such that the positive-preserving technique can be applied on both original and deduced equations. A high-order slope limiter is used to keep a polynomial upper bound which changes over time for $r$. Moreover, the high-order accuracy is attained by the flux limiter. Numerical examples are given to demonstrate the high-order accuracy and bound-preserving property of the numerical technique.
