The matrix canonical realizations of the Lie algebra of pseudo-orthogonal group O(m, n) described in the first part of this paper are further investigated. The explicit formulae for values of the Casimir operators (which are multiples of identity in these realizations) are obtained.

We consider a two-dimensional electron with an anomalous magnetic moment, <i>g</i>&gt;2, interacting with a nonzero magnetic field <i>B</i> perpendicular to the plane which gives rise to a flux <i>F</i>. Recent results about the discrete spectrum of the Pauli operator are extended to fields with the \mathcal{O}\left( {r^{ - 2 - \delta } } ight) decay at infinity: we show that if \mathcal{O}\left( {r^{ - 2 - \delta } } ight) exceeds an integer <i>N</i>, there is at least \mathcal{O}\left( {r^{ - 2 - \delta } } ight) bound states. Furthermore, we prove that weakly coupled bound states exist under mild regularity assumptions also in the zero flux case.

We show how the von Neumann theory of self-adjoint extensions can be used to investigatequantum systems the configuration space of which can be decomposed into parts of different dimensionalities. The method can be applied in many situations; we illustrate it on examples including point contact spectroscopy, nanotube systems, microwave resonators, or spin conductance oscillations.

The goal of this paper is to derive estimates of eigenvalue moments for Dirichlet Laplacians and Schrdinger operators in regions having infinite cusps which are geometrically nontrivial being either curved or twisted; we are going to show how those geometric properties enter the eigenvalue bounds. The obtained inequalities reflect the essentially one-dimensional character of the cusps and we give an example showing that in an intermediate energy region they can be much stronger than the usual semiclassical bounds.

Representations of the sl (n+ 1, C) Lie algebras are constructed with the help of canonical (boson) realisations of these algebras. For every weight Lambda on the standard Cartan subalgebra of sl (n+ 1, C) the authors obtain a representation rho Lambda (n+ 1)(called the maximal representation) which contains an irreducible subrepresentation with Lambda as the highest weight. It is shown that for a major part of the weights Lambda the representations rho Lambda (n+ 1) themselves are irreducible. The standard construction of the highest-weight representations of semi-simple Lie algebras is based on the so-called elementary representations; comparing with them, the authors maximal representations are given in the explicit form.
