We prove uniform local energy decay estimates of solutions to the wave equation on unbounded Riemannian manifolds with nontrapping metrics. These estimates are derived from the properties of the resolvent at high frequency. Applications to a class of asymptotically Euclidean manifolds as well as to perturbations by non-negative long-range potentials are given.

We construct SYZ mirrors of the local Calabi–Yau manifolds of type à by developing an equivariant SYZ theory for the toric Calabi–Yau manifolds of infinite-type. The equations for the SYZ mirrors involve the Riemann theta functions and generating functions of the open Gromov–Witten invariants. We obtain explicit formulae for the generating functions which are open analogs of the Yau–Zaslow formula in dimension 2, and show that they have nice modular properties. We also relate the SYZ mirror pairs with mirror symmetry for the abelian varieties and hypersurfaces therein.

Variance estimation is a fundamental problem in statistical modelling. In ultrahigh dimensional linear regression where the dimensionality is much larger than the sample size, traditional variance estimation techniques are not applicable. Recent advances in variable selection in ultrahigh dimensional linear regression make this problem accessible. One of the major problems in ultrahigh dimensional regression is the high spurious correlation between the unobserved realized noise and some of the predictors. As a result, the realized noises are actually predicted when extra irrelevant variables are selected, leading to a serious underestimate of the level of noise. We propose a twostage refitted procedure via a data splitting technique, called refitted crossvalidation, to attenuate the influence of irrelevant variables with high spurious correlations.
