Alexandrov proved that any simplicial complex homeomorphic to a sphere with strictly non-negative Gaussian curvature at each vertex can be isometrically embedded uniquely in {{\mathbb {R}}}^{3} as a convex polyhedron. Due to the nonconstructive nature of his proof, there have yet to be any algorithms, that we know of, that realizes the Alexandrov embedding in polynomial time. Following his proof, we developed the adiabatic isometric mapping (AIM) algorithm. AIM uses a guided adiabatic pull-back procedure on a given polyhedral metric to produce an embedding that approximates the unique Alexandrov polyhedron. Tests of AIM applied to two different polyhedral metrics suggests that its run time is sub cubic with respect to the number of vertices. Computing uniformization maps for surfaces has been a challenging problem and has many practical applications. In this paper, we provide a theoretically rigorous algorithm to compute such maps via combinatorial Calabi flow for vertex scaling of polyhedral metrics on surfaces, which is an analogue of the combinatorial Yamabe flow introduced by Luo (Commun Contemp Math 6(5):765–780, 2004). To handle the singularies along the combinatorial Calabi flow, we do surgery on the flow by flipping. Using the discrete conformal theory established in Gu et al. (J Differ Geom 109(3):431–466, 2018; J Differ Geom 109(2):223–256, 2018), we prove that for any initial Euclidean or hyperbolic polyhedral metric on a closed surface, the combinatorial Calabi flow with surgery exists for all time and converges exponentially fast after finite number of surgeries. The convergence is independent of the combinatorial structure of the initial triangulation on the surface.

In this paper, we give a complete classification of cotorsion pairs in a cluster category C of type A^\infty_\infty via certain configurations of arcs, called τ-compact Ptolemy diagrams, in an infinite strip with marked points. As applications, we classify t-structures and functorially finite rigid subcategories in C, respectively. We also deduce Liu-Paquette's classification of cluster tilting subcategories of C and Ng's classification of torsion pairs in the cluster category of type A^\infty_\infty.

We analyze orbifolds with discrete torsion of the ABJM theory by a finite subgroup Γ of SU(2)×SU(2) . Discrete torsion is implemented by twisting the crossed product algebra resulting after orbifolding. It is shown that, in general, the order m of the cocycle we chose to twist the algebra by enters in a non trivial way in the moduli space. To be precise, the M-theory fiber is multiplied by a factor of m in addition to the other effects that were found before in the literature. Therefore we got a Zk|Γ|m action on the fiber. We present a general analysis on how this quotient arises along with a detailed analysis of the cases where Γ is abelian.

We use the learning with errors (LWE) problem to build a new simple and provably secure key exchange scheme. The basic idea of the construction can be viewed as certain extension of Diffie-Hellman problem with errors. The mathematical structure behind comes from the commutativity of computing a bilinear form in two different ways due to the associativity of the matrix multiplications: (x^t \times A)\times y = x^t \times (A\times y), where x,y are column vectors and A is a square matrix. We show that our new schemes are more efficient in terms of communication and computation complexity compared with key exchange schemes or key transport schemes via encryption schemes based on the LWE problem. Furthermore, we extend our scheme to the ring learning with errors (RLWE) problem, resulting in small key size and better efficiency.
