In this paper, we propose a randomized primaldual proximal block coordinate updating framework for a general multi-block convex optimization model with coupled objective function and linear constraints. Assuming mere convexity, we establish its <i>O</i>(1/<i>t</i>) convergence rate in terms of the objective value and feasibility measure. The framework includes several existing algorithms as special cases such as a primaldual method for bilinear saddle-point problems (PD-S), the proximal Jacobian alternating direction method of multipliers (Prox-JADMM) and a randomized variant of the ADMM for multi-block convex optimization. Our analysis recovers and/or strengthens the convergence properties of several existing algorithms. We propose efficient Eulerian methods for approximating the finite-time Lyapunov exponent (FTLE). The idea is to compute the related flow map using the Level Set Method and the Liouville equation. There are several advantages of the proposed approach. Unlike the usual Lagrangian-type computations, the resulting method requires the velocity field defined only at discrete locations. No interpolation of the velocity field is needed. Also, the method automatically stops a particle trajectory in the case when the ray hits the boundary of the computational domain. The computational complexity of the algorithm is <i>O</i>(<i>x</i>^(<i>d</i>+1)) with <i>d</i> the dimension of the physical space. Since there are the same number of mesh points in the <i>x</i><i>t</i> space, the computational complexity of the proposed Eulerian approach is optimal in the sense that each grid point is visited for only <i>O</i>(1) time. In event studies of capital market efficiency, an earnings surprise has historically been measured by the consensus error, defined as earnings minus the consensus or average of professional forecasts. The rationale is that the consensus is an accurate measure of the markets expectation of earnings. But since forecasts can be biased due to conflicts of interest and some investors can see through these conflicts, this rationale is flawed and the consensus error a biased measure of an earnings surprise. We show that the fraction of forecasts that miss on the same side (FOM), by ignoring the size of the misses, is less sensitive to such bias and a better measure of an earnings surprise. As a result, FOM out-performs the consensus error and its related robust statistics in explaining stock price movements around and subsequent to the announcement date.

Let X be a compact Khler manifold and X a subvariety of X with higher co-dimension. The aim is to study complete constant scalar curvature Khler metrics on non-compact Khler manifold X with Poincar--Mok--Yau asymptotic property (see Definition\ref {def}). In this paper, the methods of Calabi's ansatz and the moment construction are used to provide some special examples of such metrics.
