Let A 1, A 2 be standard operator algebras on complex Banach spaces X 1, X 2, respectively. For k 2, let (i 1,, i m) be a sequence with terms chosen from {1,, k}, and define the generalized Jordan product T 1 T k= T i 1 T i m+ T i m T i 1 on elements in A i. This includes the usual Jordan product A 1 A 2= A 1 A 2+ A 2 A 1, and the triple {A 1, A 2, A 3}= A 1 A 2 A 3+ A 3 A 2 A 1. Assume that at least one of the terms in (i 1,, i m) appears exactly once. Let a map : A 1 A 2 satisfy that ( (A 1) (A k))= (A 1 A k) whenever any one of A 1,, A k has rank at most one. It is shown in this paper that if the range of contains all operators of rank at most three, then must be a Jordan isomorphism multiplied by an m th root of unity. Similar results for maps between self-adjoint operators acting on Hilbert spaces are also obtained.

Given a smooth polarized Riemann surface (X, L) endowed with a hyperbolic metric \omega with cusp singularities along a divisor D, we show the L^ 2 projective embedding of (X, D) defined by L^ k is asymptotically almost balanced in a weighted sense. The proof depends on sufficiently precise understanding of the behavior of the Bergman kernel in three regions, with the most crucial one being the neck region around D. This is the first step towards understanding the algebro-geometric stability of extremal Khler metrics with singularities.

This research, initiated by a problem excerpted from Baidu, one of the most famous internet search engines in China, explores two types of movements, “converging curve” and “tracing curve” named by this research group, which really act in a regular pattern. In the research, by applying scores of mathematical methods, we found that the key to converging curves is to spot the invariant elements from the changeful motions. For tracing curves, we adopt estimating equations to get the solution. Due to the limit of time and the relevant knowledge of the research group, many unexpected problems constantly appeared which are quite far beyond our ability. Yet we still tried to apply some promising mathematical thoughts, and have achieved some exciting results. In the process of discovering and rediscovering, we did not succeed in finding a perfect solution to the problem. After all, as a group of middle school students fascinated by mathematics, creating and discovering more are the greatest delight of us all.

We construct a Kruskal-Szekeres-type analytic extension of the Emparan-Reall black ring, and investigate its geometry. We prove that the extension is maximal, globally hyperbolic, and unique within a natural class of extensions. The key to those results is the proof that causal geodesics are either complete, or approach a singular boundary in finite affine time. Alternative maximal analytic extensions are also constructed.
