The purpose of this research monograph is to survey some recent developments in the analysis of shock reflection-diffraction, to present our original mathematical proofs of von Neumann’s conjectures for potential flow, to collect most of the related results and new techniques in the analysis of partial differential equations achieved in the last decades, and to discuss a set of fundamental open problems relevant to the directions of future research in this and related areas.

We prove that the punctured generalized conifolds and punctured orbifolded conifolds are mirror symmetric under the SYZ program with quantum corrections. This mathematically confirms the gauge-theoretic prediction by Aganagic–Karch–L¨ust–Miemiec, and also provides a supportive evidence to Morrison’s conjecture that geometric transitions are reversed under mirror symmetry.

Wind power is an increasingly popular renewable energy. In the design process of the wind turbine blade, the accurate aerodynamic simulation is important. In the past, most of the wind turbine simulations were carried out with some low fidelity methods, such as the blade element momentum method [9]. Recently, with the rapid development of the supercomputers, high fidelity simulations based on 3D unsteady Navier-Stokes (N-S) equations become more popular.
