Decomposable mappings from the space of symmetric$k$-fold tensors over$E$, $\bigotimes_{s,k}E$ , to the space of$k$-fold tensors over$F$, $\bigotimes_{s,k}F$ , are those linear operators which map nonzero decomposable elements to nonzero decomposable elements. We prove that any decomposable mapping is induced by an injective linear operator between the spaces on which the tensors are defined. Moreover, if the decomposable mapping belongs to a given operator ideal, then so does its inducing operator. This result allows us to classify injective linear operators between spaces of homogeneous approximable polynomials and between spaces of nuclear polynomials which map rank-1 polynomials to rank-1 polynomials.

We provide an affirmative answer to an question that the Fischer-Burmeister complementarity function associated with symmetric cones, named the FB SC complementarity function, is globally Lipschitz continuous and strongly semismooth everywhere for Hn and Qn. This is achieved with the help of embedding Hn and Qn into certain Sm.

A generalization of a result of Wermer concerning the existence of polynomial hulls without analytic discs is presented. As a consequence it is shown that there exists a Cantor set X in C3 whose polynomial hull is strictly larger than X but contains no analytic discs.

We prove, in the setting of a measure energy space (M, ,(, )), that if the smallest eigenvalue 1 () of the generator of the Dirichlet form in any precompact open set M admits the estimate 1 () ()- where is a measure absolutely continuous with respect to and > 0 then a similar estimate holds for the kth smallest eigenvalue: k () const (k/ ()) .
