Given an open book decomposition (Σ,τ) of a three manifold Y , Thurston and Winkelnkemper [TW] construct a specific contact form a on Y . Given a spin-c Dirac operator D on Y , the contact form naturally associates a one parameter family of Dirac operators Dr = D− ir 2 cl(a) for r ≥ 0. When r >> 1, we prove that the spectrum of Dr = D0 − ir 2 cl(a) within [−1 2r 1 2 , 1 2r 1 2 ] are almost uniformly distributed. With the result in Part I [Ts1], it implies that the subleading order term of the spectral flow from D0 to Dr is of order r(logr) 9 2 . Besides the interests of the spectral flow, the method of this paper provide a tool to analyze the Dirac operator on an open book decomposition.

Abstract Let T: V W be a surjective real linear isometry between full real Hilbert C-modules over real C-algebras A and B, respectively. We show that the following conditions are equivalent:(a) T is a 2-isometry;(b) T is a complete isometry;(c) T preserves ternary products;(d) T preserves inner products;(e) T is a module map. When A and B are commutative, we give a full description of the structure of T.

The equilibrium metric for minimizing a continuous congested traffic model is the solution of a variational problem involving geodesic distances. The continuous equilibrium metric and its associated variational problem are closely related to the classical discrete Wardrops equilibrium. We propose an adjoint state method to numerically approximate continuous traffic congestion equilibria through the continuous formulation. The method formally derives an adjoint state equation to compute the gradient descent direction so as to minimize a nonlinear functional involving the equilibrium metric and the resulting geodesic distances. The geodesic distance needed for the state equation is computed by solving a factored eikonal equation, and the adjoint state equation is solved by a fast sweeping method. It is known that the singularity in the non-cutoff cross-section of the Boltzmann equation leads to the gain of regularity and gain of weight in the velocity variable. By defining and analyzing a non-isotropy norm which precisely captures the dissipation in the linearized collision operator, we give a new and precise coercivity estimate for the non-cutoff Boltzmann equation for general physical cross sections.

We consider the Schrödinger equation with a nondispersive logarithmic nonlinearity and a repulsive harmonic potential. For a suitable range of the coefficients, there exist two positive stationary solutions, each one generating a continuous family of solitary waves. These solutions are Gaussian, and turn out to be orbitally unstable. We also discuss the notion of ground state in this setting: for any natural definition, the set of ground states is empty.
