Given a Hilbert space H, the infinite-dimensional Lorentz/second-order cone K is introduced. For any x H, a spectral decomposition is introduced, and for any function f: R R, we define a corresponding vector-valued function f H (x) on Hilbert space H by applying f to the spectral values of the spectral decomposition of x H with respect to K. We show that this vector-valued function inherits from f the properties of continuity, Lipschitz continuity, differentiability, smoothness, as well as s-semismoothness. These results can be helpful for designing and analyzing solution methods for solving infinite-dimensional second-order cone programs and complementarity problems.

In this paper we consider a purely algebraic result. Then given a circle or cyclic group of prime order action on a manifold, we will use it to estimate the lower bound of the number of fixed points. We also give an obstruction to the existence of \mathbb {Z} _p action on manifolds with isolated fixed points when \mathbb {Z} _p is a prime.

This paper provides a rigorous proof of the existence of an infinite number of black hole solutions to the Einstein-Yang/Mills equations with gauge group<i>SU</i>(2), for any event horizon. It is also demonstrated that the ADM mass of each solutions is finite, and that the corresponding Einstein metric tends to the associated Schwarzschild metric at a rate 1/<i>r</i> ², as<i>r</i> tends to infinity.

The coupled EinsteinDiracMaxwell equations are considered for a static, spherically symmetric system of two fermions in a singlet spinor state. Stable soliton-like solutions are shown to exist, and we discuss the regularizing effect of gravity from a Feynman diagram point of view.

For the steady-state solution of a differential equation from a one-dimensional multistate model in transport theory, we shall derive and study a nonsymmetric algebraic Riccati equation <i>B</i> <i>XF</i> <i>F</i>⁺<i>X</i> + <i>XB</i>⁺<i>X</i> = 0, where <i>F</i> (<i>I</i> <i>F</i>)<i>D</i> and <i>B</i> <i>BD</i> with positive diagonal matrices <i>D</i> and possibly low-ranked matrices <i>F</i> and <i>B</i>. We prove the existence of the minimal positive solution <i>X</i>^* under a set of physically reasonable assumptions and study its numerical computation by fixed-point iteration, Newtons method and the doubling algorithm. We shall also study several special cases. For example when <i>B</i> and <i>F</i> are low ranked then X*=(i=14UiViT) with low-ranked <i>U_i</i> and <i>V_i</i> that can be computed using more efficient iterative processes. Numerical examples will be given to illustrate our theoretical results.
