In the event-related functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) data analysis, there is an extensive interest in accurately and robustly estimating the hemodynamic response function (HRF) and its associated statistics (eg, the magnitude and duration of the activation). Most methods to date are developed in the time domain and they have utilized almost exclusively the temporal information of fMRI data without accounting for the spatial information. The aim of this paper is to develop a multiscale adaptive smoothing model (MASM) in the frequency domain by integrating the spatial and temporal information to adaptively and accurately estimate HRFs pertaining to each stimulus sequence across all voxels in a three-dimensional (3D) volume. For any n-dimensional smooth manifold $\Sigma$, we show that all the singularities of the mean curvature flow with any initial mean convex hypersurface in $\Sigma$ are cylindrical (of convex type) if the flow converges to a smooth hypersurface $M_\infty$ (maybe empty) at infinity. Previously this was shown (i) for n$\leq$7, and (ii) for arbitrary n up to the first singular time without the smooth condition on $M_\infty$.

We show that for many strata of Abelian differentials in low genus the sum of Lyapunov exponents for the Teichmüller geodesic flow is the same for all Teichmüller curves in that stratum, hence equal to the sum of Lyapunov exponents for the whole stratum. This behavior is due to the disjointness property of Teichmüller curves with various geometrically defined divisors on moduli spaces of curves

A convex subset B of a real locally convex space B is said to have the separation property if it can be separated from every closed convex subset B of B , which is disjoint from B , by a closed hyperplane. The strong separation theorem says that if B is weakly compact, then it has the separation property. In this paper, we present two versions of the converse and discuss an application of them. For example, we prove that a normed space is reflexive if and only if its closed unit ball has the separation property. Results in this paper can be considered as supplements of the famous theorem of James.
