The purpose of this paper is to introduce a new characterization of the characteristic functions for the study on the measure valued solution to the homogeneous Boltzmann equation so that it precisely captures the moment constraint in physics. This significantly improves the previous result by Cannone and Karch (2010) [2] in the sense that the new characterization gives a complete description of infinite energy solutions for the Maxwellian cross section. In addition, the global in time smoothing effect of the infinite energy solution is justified as for the finite energy solution except for a single Dirac mass initial datum.

We investigate so-called Laplace–Carleson embeddings for large exponents. In particular, we extend some results by Jacob, Partington, and Pott. We also discuss some related results for Sobolev– and Besov spaces, and mapping properties of the Fourier transform. These variants of the Hausdorff–Young theorem appear difficult to find in the literature. We conclude the paper with an example related to an open problem.

We consider a family of compact manifolds which shrinks with respect to an appropriate parameter to a graph. The main result is that the spectrum of the LaplaceBeltrami operator converges to the spectrum of the (differential) Laplacian on the graph with Kirchhoff boundary conditions at the vertices. On the other hand, if the shrinking at the vertex parts of the manifold is sufficiently slower comparing to that of the edge parts, the limiting spectrum corresponds to decoupled edges with Dirichlet boundary conditions at the endpoints. At the borderline between the two regimes we have a third possibility when the limiting spectrum can be described by a nontrivial coupling at the vertices.

A cohomology theory associated to a holomorphic Poisson structure is the hypercohomology of a bicomplex where one of the two operators is the classical -operator, while the other operator is the adjoint action of the Poisson bivector with respect to the Schouten-Nijenhuis bracket. The first page of the associated spectral sequence is the Dolbeault cohomology with coefficients in the sheaf of germs of holomorphic polyvector fields. In this note, the authors investigate the conditions for which this spectral sequence degenerates on the first page when the underlying complex manifolds are nilmanifolds with an abelian complex structure. For a particular class of holomorphic Poisson structures, this result leads to a Hodge-type decomposition of the holomorphic Poisson cohomology. We provide examples when the nilmanifolds are 2-step.

The cocenter of an affine Hecke algebra plays an important role in the study of representations of the affine Hecke algebra and the geometry of affine DeligneLusztig varieties (see for example, He and Nie in Compos Math 150(11):19031927, 2014; He in Ann Math 179:367404, 2014; Ciubotaru and He in Cocenter and representations of affine Hecke algebras, 2014). In this paper, we give a BernsteinLusztig type presentation of the cocenter. We also obtain a comparison theorem between the class polynomials of the affine Hecke algebra and those of its parabolic subalgebras, which is an algebraic analog of the HodgeNewton decomposition theorem for affine DeligneLusztig varieties. As a consequence, we present a new proof of the emptiness pattern of affine DeligneLusztig varieties (Grtz et al. in Compos Math 146(5):13391382, 2010; Grtz et al. in Ann Sci cole Norm Sup, 2012).
