Brain Cortical surface registration is required for inter-subject studies of functional and anatomical data. Harmonic mapping has been applied for brain mapping, due to its existence, uniqueness, regularity and numerical stability. In order to improve the registration accuracy, sculcal landmarks are usually used as constraints for brain registration. Unfortunately, constrained harmonic mappings may not be diffeomorphic and produces invalid registration. This work conquer this problem by changing the Riemannian metric on the target cortical surface to a hyperbolic metric, so that the harmonic mapping is guaranteed to be a diffeomorphism while the landmark constraints are enforced as boundary matching condition. In this paper, we will develop a new staggered hybridization technique for discontinuous Galerkin methods to discretize linear elastodynamic equations. The idea of hybridization is used extensively in many discontinuous Galerkin methods, but the idea of staggered hybridization is new. Our new approach offers several advantages, namely energy conservation, high-order optimal convergence, preservation of symmetry for the stress tensor, block diagonal mass matrices as well as low dispersion error. The key idea is to use two staggered hybrid variables to enforce the continuity of the velocity and the continuity of the normal component of the stress tensor on a staggered mesh. We prove the stability and the convergence of the proposed scheme in both the semi-discrete and the fully-discrete settings. Numerical results confirm the optimal rate of convergence and show that the method has a superconvergent property for dispersion. Furthermore, an application of this method to Rayleigh wave propagation is presented.

Remarkable achievements have been attained by deep neural networks in various applications. However, the increasing depth and width of such models also lead to explosive growth in both storage and computation, which has restricted the deployment of deep neural networks on resource-limited edge devices. To address this problem, we propose the so-called SCAN framework for networks training and inference, which is orthogonal and complementary to existing acceleration and compression methods. The proposed SCAN firstly divides neural networks into multiple sections according to their depth and constructs shallow classifiers upon the intermediate features of different sections. Moreover, attention modules and knowledge distillation are utilized to enhance the accuracy of shallow classifiers. Based on this architecture, we further propose a threshold controlled scalable inference mechanism to approach human-like sample-specific inference. Experimental results show that SCAN can be easily equipped on various neural networks without any adjustment on hyper-parameters or neural networks architectures, yielding significant performance gain on CIFAR100 and ImageNet. Simple-homotopy for cell complexes is a special type of topological homotopy constructed by elementary collapses and elementary expansions. In this paper, we introduce graph homotopy for graphs and Graham homotopy for hypergraphs and study the relation between the two homotopies and the simple-homotopy for cell complexes. The graph homotopy is useful to describe topological properties of discretized geometric figures, while the Graham homotopy is essential to characterize acyclic hypergraphs and acyclic relational database schemes.
