We review the existence results of traveling wave solutions to the reaction-diffusion equations with periodic diffusion (convection) coefficients and combustion (bistable) nonlinearities. We prove that whenever traveling waves exist, the solutions of the initial value problem with either frontlike or pulselike data propagate with the constant effective speeds of traveling waves in all suitable directions. In the case of bistable nonlinearity and one space dimension, we give an example of nonexistence of traveling waves which causes quenching (localization) of wavefront propagation. Quenching (localization) only occurs when the variations of the media from their constant mean values are large enough. Our related numerical results also provide evidence for this phenomenon in the parameter regimes not covered by the analytical example. Mirror symmetry conjecture identifies the complex geometry of a Calabi $ Yau manifold with the symplectic geometry of its mirror Calabi $ Yau man $ ifold. Using the SYZ mirror transform, we argue that (i) the mirror of an elliptic Calabi $ Yau manifold admits a twin Lagrangian fibration structure and (ii) the mirror of the Fourier $ Mukai transform for dual elliptic fibra $ tions is a symplectic Fourier $ Mukai transform for dual twin Lagrangian fibrations, which is essentially an identity transformation in this case.

We present an integral representation for the tensor product L-function of a pair of automorphic cuspidal representations, one of a classical group, the other of a general linear group. Our construction is uniform over all classical groups, and is applicable to all cuspidal representations; it does not require genericity. The main new ideas of the construction are the use of generalized Speh representations as inducing data for the Eisenstein series and the introduction of a new (global and local) model, which generalizes the Whittaker model. Here we consider linear groups, but our construction also extends to arbitrary degree metaplectic coverings; this will be the topic of an upcoming work.

In this paper, we prove that if a compact Kähler manifold X has a smooth Hermitian metric ω such that (T_X,ω) is uniformly RC-positive, then X is projective and rationally connected. Conversely, we show that, if a projective manifold X is rationally connected, then there exists a uniformly RC-positive complex Finsler metric on T_X .

In this paper, several versions of gluing theorems for quasiconformal mappings in the plane are obtained. The best possibility of gluing quasiconformal mappings is investigated. As an application, we provide a new short proof of the gluing theorem obtained by Jiang and Qi.
