In this paper we present a rigorous derivation of the material parameters for both the cylinder and rectangle cloaking structures. Numerical results using these material parameters are presented to demonstrate the cloaking effect.

We will show that for any noncompact arithmetic hyperbolic m-manifold with m>3, and any compact arithmetic hyperbolic m-manifold with m > 4 that is not a 7-dimensional one defined by octonions, its fundamental group is not locally extended residually finite (LERF). The main ingredient in the proof is a study on abelian amalgamations of hyperbolic 3-manifold groups. We will also show that a compact orientable irreducible 3-manifold with empty or tori boundary supports a geometric structure if and only if its fundamental group is LERF.

The Lp dual curvature measure was introduced by Lutwak, Yang & Zhang in an attempt to unify the Lp Brunn– Minkowski theory and the dual Brunn–Minkowski theory. The characterization problem for Lp dual curvature measure, called the Lp dual Minkowski problem, is a fundamental problem in this unifying theory. The Lp dual Minkowski problem contains the Lp Minkowski problem and the dual Minkowski problem, two major problems in modern convex geometry that remain open in general. In this paper, existence results on the Lp dual Minkowski problem in the weak sense will be provided. Moreover, existence and uniqueness of the solution in the smooth category will also be demonstrated.

In statistics and machine learning, we are interested in the eigenvectors (or singular vectors) of certain matrices (eg covariance matrices, data matrices, etc). However, those matrices are usually perturbed by noises or statistical errors, either from random sampling or structural patterns. The Davis-Kahan sin theorem is often used to bound the difference between the eigenvectors of a matrix A and those of a perturbed matrix A= A+ E, in terms of l2 norm.
