We develop a local cohomology theory for FI^m-modules, and show that it in many ways mimics the classical theory for multi-graded modules over a polynomial ring. In particular, we define an invariant of FI^m-modules using this local cohomology theory which closely resembles an invariant of multi-graded modules over Cox rings defined by Maclagan and Smith. It is then shown that this invariant behaves almost identically to the invariant of Maclagan and Smith.

In this paper we generalize a new type of limiters based on the weighted essentially non-oscillatory (WENO) finite volume methodology for the Runge-Kutta discontinuous Galerkin (RKDG) methods solving nonlinear hyperbolic conservation laws, which were recently developed for structured meshes, to two-dimensional unstructured triangular meshes. The key idea of such limiters is to use the entire polynomials of the DG solutions from the troubled cell and its immediate neighboring cells, and then apply the classical WENO procedure to form a convex combination of these polynomials based on smoothness indicators and nonlinear weights, with suitable adjustments to guarantee conservation. The main advantage of this new limiter is its simplicity in implementation, especially for the unstructured meshes considered in this paper, as only information from immediate neighbors is needed and the usage of complicated geometric information of the meshes is largely avoided. Numerical results for both scalar equations and Euler systems of compressible gas dynamics are provided to illustrate the good performance of this procedure.

We establish a general Kronecker limit formula of arbitrary rank over global function fields with Drinfeld period domains playing the role of upper-half plane. The Drinfeld-Siegel units come up as equal characteristic modular forms replacing the classical $\Delta$. This leads to analytic means of deriving a Colmez-type formula for "stable Taguchi height" of CM Drinfeld modules having arbitrary rank. A Lerch-Type formula for "totally real" function fields is also obtained, with the Heegner cycle on the Bruhat-Tits buildings intervene. Also our limit formula is naturally applied to the special values of both the Rankin-Selberg L-functions and the Godement-Jacquet L-functions associated to automorphic cuspidal representations over global function fields.

In this paper we introduce an appealing nonparametric method for estimating the mean regression function. The proposed method combines the ideas of local linear smoothers and variable bandwidth. Hence, it also inherits the advantages of both approaches. We give expressions for the conditional MSE and MISE of the estimator. Minimization of the MISE leads to an explicit formula for an optimal choice of the variable bandwidth. Moreover, the merits of considering a variable bandwidth are discussed. In addition, we show that the estimator does not have boundary effects, and hence does not require modifications at the boundary. The performance of a corresponding plug-in estimator is investigated. Simulations illustrate the proposed estimation method.
