We consider the numerical solution of the time-fractional diffusion-wave equation on two-dimensional and three-dimensional unbounded spatial domains. Introduce an artificial boundary and find the exact and approximate artificial boundary conditions for the given problem, which lead to a bounded computational domain. Using the exact or approximating boundary conditions on the artificial boundary, the original problem is reduced to an initial-boundary-value problem on the bounded computational domain which is respectively equivalent to or approximates the original problem. Finite difference methods are used to solve the reduced problems on the bounded computational domain and the stability of these finite difference methods are proved. The numerical results demonstrate that the method given in this paper is effective and feasible.

A finite EI category is a small category with finitely many morphisms such that every endomorphism is an isomorphism. They include finite groups, finite posets and free categories of finite quivers as special cases. In this paper we consider the representation types of finite EI categories, describe some criteria for finite representation type, and use them to classify the representation types of several classes of finite EI categories with extra properties.

A variational formula for the Lutwak affine surface areas j of convex bodies in Rn is established when 1 ≤ j ≤ n − 1. By using introduced new ellipsoids associated with projection functions of convex bodies, we prove a sharp isoperimetric inequality for j , which opens up a new passage to attack the longstanding Lutwak conjecture in convex geometry.

Using the degeneration formula for Donaldson-Thomas invariants [L-W,MNOP2], we proved formulae for blowing up a point, simple flops, and extremal transitions.
