We undertake a systematic study of the infinitesimal geometry of the Thurston metric, showing that the topology, convex geometry and metric geometry of the tangent and cotangent spheres based at any marked hyperbolic surface representing a point in Teichmüller space can recover the marking and geometry of this marked surface. We then translate the results concerning the infinitesimal structures to global geometric statements for the Thurston metric, most notably deriving rigidity statements for the Thurston metric analogous to the celebrated Royden theorem.

In this work we investigate the decorated domain wall construction in bosonic group-cohomology symmetry-protected topological (SPT) phases and related quantum anomalies in bosonic topological phases. We first show that a general decorated domain wall construction can be described mathematically as an Atiyah-Hirzebruch spectral sequence, where the terms on the E2 page correspond to decorations by lower-dimensional SPT states at domain wall junctions. For bosonic group-cohomology SPT phases, the spectral sequence becomes the Lyndon-Hochschild-Serre (LHS) spectral sequence for ordinary group cohomology. We then discuss the physical interpretations of the differentials in the spectral sequence, particularly in the context of anomalous SPT phases and symmetry-enriched gauge theories. As the main technical result, we obtain a full description of the LHS spectral sequence concretely at the cochain level. The explicit formulae are then applied to explain Lieb-Schultz-Mattis theorems for SPT phases, and also derive a new LSM theorem for easy-plane spin model in a π flux lattice. We also revisit the classifications of symmetry-enriched 2D and 3D Abelian gauge theories using our results.

The$H$^{$p$}corona problem is the following: Let$g$_{1}, ...,$g$_{$m$}be bounded holomorphic functions with 0<δ≤Σ‖$g$_{$i$}‖. Can we, for any$H$^{$p$}function ϕ, find$H$^{$p$}functions$u$_{1}, ...,$u$_{$m$}such that Σ$g$_{$i$}$u$_{$i$}=ϕ? It is known that the answer is affirmative in the polydisc, and the aim of this paper is to prove that it is in non-degenerate analytic polyhedra. To prove this, we construct a solution using a certain integral representation formula. The$H$^{$p$}estimate for the solution is then obtained by localization and some harmonic analysis results in the polydisc.

In two earlier papers with the same title, we studied connections between Voronoi’s formula in the divisor problem and Atkinson’s formula for the mean square of Riemann’s zeta-function. Now we consider this correspondence in terms of segments of sums appearing in these formulae and show that a certain arithmetic conjecture concerning the divisor function implies best possible bounds for the classical error terms Δ($x$) and$E$($T$).
