This paper is concerned with the Cauchy problem on the VlasovPoissonBoltzmann system for hard potentials in the whole space. When the initial data is a small perturbation of a global Maxwellian, a satisfactory global existence theory of classical solutions to this problem, together with the corresponding temporal decay estimates on the global solutions, is established. Our analysis is based on time-decay properties of solutions and a new timevelocity weight function which is designed to control the large-velocity growth in the nonlinear term for the case of non-hard-sphere interactions.

Motivated by a phenomenon of phase transition in a model of alignment of self-propelled particles, we obtain a kinetic mean-field equation which is nothing else than the Doi equation (also called Smoluchowski equation) with dipolar potential. In a self-contained article, using only basic tools, we analyze the dynamics of this equation in any dimension. We first prove global well-posedness of this equation, starting with an initial condition in any Sobolev space. We then compute all possible steady-states. There is a threshold for the noise parameter: over this threshold, the only equilibrium is the uniform distribution, and under this threshold, there is also a family of non-isotropic equilibria. We give a rigorous prove of convergence of the solution to a steady-state as time goes to infinity. In particular we show that in the supercritical case, the only initial conditions leading to the uniform distribution in large time are those with vanishing momentum. For any positive value of the noise parameter, and any initial condition, we give rates of convergence towards equilibrium, exponentially for both supercritical and subcritical cases and algebraically for the critical case.

Given any suitably small, localized, and smooth initial data, in this paper, we prove global regularity for the 3D finite depth gravity water wave system. As a byproduct, we rule out the small, localized traveling waves in 3D, which do exist for the same system in 2D.

We present a unique global solvability and flocking estimate of an entropic weak solution to the one-dimensional pressureless Euler system with a flocking dissipation in all-to-all coupling setting. This model appears naturally as a quasi-equilibrium model for hydrodynamic description of CuckerSmale flocking. For the unique global solvability, we adopt the variation approach from Ding and Huang's work [19] on the inhomogeneous pressureless gas dynamic model. When initial mass and velocity are locally integrable and bounded measurable functions, respectively, we give explicit representations for the global entropic weak solutions. Our results do not require any smallness of initial data except that initial mass density is almost everywhere positive.

In this paper, we define boundary single and double layer potentials for Laplace’s equation in certain bounded domains with$d$-Ahlfors regular boundary, considerably more general than Lipschitz domains. We show that these layer potentials are invertible as mappings between certain Besov spaces and thus obtain layer potential solutions to the regularity, Neumann, and Dirichlet problems with boundary data in these spaces.
