In this paper, we consider the Cauchy problem to the planar non-resistive magnetohydrodynamic equations without heat conductivity, and establish the global well-posedness of strong solutions with large initial data. The key ingredient of the proof is to establish the a priori estimates on the effective viscous flux and a newly introduced ``transverse effective viscous flux" vector field inducted by the transverse magnetic field. The initial density is assumed only to be uniformly bounded and of finite mass and, in particular, the vacuum and discontinuities of the density are allowed.

In this paper we study the zero-viscosity limit of 2-D Boussinesq equations with vertical viscosity and zero diffusivity, which is a nonlinear system with partial dissipation arising in atmospheric sciences and oceanic circulation. The domain is taken as R2+ with Navier-type boundary. We prove the nonlinear stability of the approximate solution constructed by boundary layer expansion in conormal Sobolev space. The optimal expansion order and convergence rates for the inviscid limit are also identified in this paper. Our paper extends the partial zero-dissipation limit results of Boussinesq system with full dissipation by Chae D. [Adv.Math.203,no.2,2006] in the whole space to the case with partial dissipation and Navier boundary in the half plane.

In this paper, we study the global well-posedness of the 2D compressible NavierStokes equations with large initial data and vacuum. It is proved that if the shear viscosity<i></i> is a positive constant and the bulk viscosity <i></i> is the power function of the density, that is, <i></i>(<i></i>) = <i></i> ^<i></i> with <i></i> &gt; 3, then the 2D compressible NavierStokes equations with the periodic boundary conditions on the torus T 2 admit a unique global classical solution (<i>, u</i>) which may contain vacuums in an open set of T 2 . Note that the initial data can be arbitrarily large to contain vacuum states.

We prove that classical solution of the spatially inhomogeneous and angular non-cutoff Boltzmann equation is C with respect to all variables, locally in the space and time variables. The proof relies on a generalized uncertainty principle, some improved upper bound and coercivity estimates on the nonlinear collision operator, and some subtle analysis on the commutators between the collision operators and some appropriately chosen pseudo-differential operators. ABSTRACT We investigate a kinetic model for the sedimentation of dilute suspensions of rod-like particles under gravity, deduced by Helzel, Otto, and Tzavaras (2011), which couples the impressible (Navier-)Stokes equation with the Fokker-Planck equation. With a no-flux boundary condition for the distribution function, we establish the existence and uniqueness of a global weak solution to the two dimensional model involving the Stokes equation.
