We investigate compact quantum group actions on unital $C^*$-algebras by analyzing invariant subsets and invariant states. In particular, we come up with the concept of compact quantum group orbits and use it to show that countable compact metrizable spaces with infinitely many points are not quantum homogeneous spaces.

For a wide class of 2-dimensional periodic elliptic operators, we show that the global extrema of all spectral band functions are isolated.

To study arithmetic structures of natural numbers, we introduce a notion of entropy of arithmetic functions, called anqie entropy. This entropy possesses some crucial properties common to both Shannon's and Kolmogorov's entropies. We show that all arithmetic functions with zero anqie entropy form a C*-algebra. Its maximal ideal space defines our arithmetic compactification of natural numbers, which is totally disconnected but not extremely disconnected. We also compute the $K$-groups of the space of all continuous functions on the arithmetic compactification. As an application, we show that any topological dynamical system with topological entropy $\lambda$, can be approximated by symbolic dynamical systems with entropy less than or equal to $\lambda$.

In our previous paper “The primes contain arbitrarily long polynomial progressions” [$Acta Math$., 201 (2008), 213–305] there were some minor errors in our definition of the polynomial forms and polynomial correlation conditions, which is unreasonably strong as written due to the overly loose bound on the degree of the polynomials involved. In this erratum we repair this issue by capping the degree of the polynomials more strongly, and adjusting some other relevant components of the argument accordingly.

In this paper we consider the problem of the non-empty intersection of exposed faces in a Banach space. We find a sufficient condition to assure that the non-empty intersection of exposed faces is an exposed face. This condition involves the concept of$inner point$. Finally, we also prove that every minimal face of the unit ball must be an extreme point and show that this is not the case at all for minimal exposed faces since we prove that every Banach space with dimension greater than or equal to 2 can be equivalently renormed to have a non-singleton, minimal exposed face.
