In 3D printing, it is critical to use as few as possible supporting materials for efficiency and material saving. Multiple model decomposition methods and multi-DOF (degrees of freedom) 3D printers have been developed to address this issue. However, most systems utilize model decomposition and multi-DOF independently. Only a few existing approaches combine the two, i.e. partitioning the models for multi-DOF printing. In this paper, we present a novel model decomposition method for multidirectional 3D printing, allowing consistent printing with the least cost of supporting materials. Our method is based on a global optimization that minimizes the surface area to be supported for a 3D model. The printing sequence is determined inherently by minimizing a single global objective function. Experiments on various complex 3D models using a five-DOF 3D printer have demonstrated the effectiveness of our approach.

By studying the heat semigroup, we prove Li-Yau type estimates for bounded and positive solutions of the heat equation on graphs, under the assumption of the curvature-dimension inequality $CDE'(n,0)$, which can be consider as a notion of curvature for graphs. Furthermore, we derive that if a graph has non-negative curvature then it has the volume doubling property, from this we can prove the Gaussian estimate for heat kernel, and then Poincar\'{e} inequality and Harnack inequality. As a consequence, we obtain that the dimension of space of harmonic functions on graphs with polynomial growth is finite, which original is a conjecture of Yau on Riemannian manifold proved by Colding and Minicozzi. Under the assumption of positive curvature on graphs, we derive the Bonnet-Myers type theorem that the diameter of graphs is finite and bounded above in terms of the positive curvature by proving some Log Sobolev inequalities.

Using Seiberg-Witten Floer spectrum and Pin(2)-equivariant KO-theory, we prove new Furuta-type inequalities on the intersection forms of spin cobordisms between homology 3-spheres. As an application, we give explicit constrains on the intersection forms of spin 4-manifolds bounded by Brieskorn spheres ±Σ(2,3,6k±1). Along the way, we also give an alternative proof of Furuta-Kametanni's improvement of 10/8-theorem for closed spin-4 manifolds.

In this paper, we study contact surgeries along Legendrian links in the standard contact 3-sphere. On one hand, we use algebraic methods to prove the vanishing of the contact Ozsváth–Szabó invariant for contact (+1)-surgery along certain Legendrian two component links. The main tool is a link surgery formula for Heegaard Floer homology developed by Manolescu and Ozsváth. On the other hand, we use contact-geometric argument to show the overtwistedness of the contact 3-manifolds obtained by contact (+1)-surgeries along Legendrian two-component links whose two components are linked in some special configurations.

We introduce a semi-algebraic structure on the set of all isotopy classes of non-separating simple closed curves in any compact oriented surface and show that the structure is finitely generated. As a consequence, we produce a natural finite dimensional linear representation of the mapping class group of the surface. Applications to the Teichmller space, Thurston's measured lamination space, the harmonic Beltrami differentials, and the first cohomology groups of the surface are discussed.
