This paper presents a 2×2 dynamical system to study the cyclic appearance and disappearance of the gas phase in a two-component (CO2, H2O), two phase (gas, liquid) flow in a single pore. Depending on injection rate, linearization of the dynamical system around equilibrium shows that the gas phase can exhibit two behaviors, either cyclically vanishing and appearing, or approaching a steady-state volume value. Numerical simulations were also run on the fully non-linear dynamical system to verify the results of the linearized model.

This paper concerns with the situation when preserves (or partially preserves) one of the following three notions of transition probability on the normal state spaces: the transition probability PU introduced by Uhlmann [Rep. We study S duality of four dimensional N= 2 Argyres-Douglas (AD) theory engineered from 6d A_ {N-1}(2, 0) theory. We find a (p, q) sequence of SCFTs, here (p, q) is co-prime and class S theory defined on sphere corresponds to class (0, 1) theory. We represent these theories by a sphere with marked points, and S duality is interpreted as different pants decompositions of the same punctured sphere. The weakly coupled gauge theory description involves gauging AD matter which is represented by three punctured sphere.

The stochasticity of gene expression is manifested in the fluctuations of mRNA and protein copy numbers within a cell lineage over time. While data of this type can be obtained for many generations, most mathematical models are unsuitable to interpret such data since they assume non-growing cells. Here we develop a theoretical approach that quantitatively links the frequency content of lineage data to subcellular dynamics. We elucidate how the position, height, and width of the peaks in the power spectrum provide a distinctive fingerprint that encodes a wealth of information about mechanisms controlling transcription, translation, replication, degradation, bursting, promoter switching, cell cycle duration, cell division, gene dosage compensation, and cell size homeostasis. Predictions are confirmed by analysis of single-cell Escherichia coli data obtained using fluorescence microscopy. Furthermore, by matching the experimental and theoretical power spectra, we infer the temperature-dependent gene expression parameters, without the need of measurements relating fluorescence intensities to molecule numbers.

String theory on NS-NS AdS_3 x S^3 admits an exactly marginal deformation which breaks the SL(2,R)_R x SL(2,R)_L isometry of AdS_3 down to SL(2,R)_R x U(1)_L. The holographic dual is an exotic and only partially understood type of two-dimensional CFT with a reduced unbroken global conformal symmetry group. In this paper we study the deformed theory on the string worldsheet. It is found to be related by a spectral flow which is nonlocal in spacetime to the undeformed worldsheet theory. An exact formula for the spectrum of massive strings is presented.
