In this note we discuss a recent proof of the formula for the worldsheet instanton prepotential predicted by Mirror Symmetry for the quintics in <b>P</b>⁴. One of the key ingredients in the proof is the equivariant cohomology groups on the so-called linear sigma model moduli spaces. We introduce the notion of admissible data on the equivariant cohomology groups of the linear sigma model. An admissible data may be thought of as a sequence of equivariant classes satisfying certain algebraic conditions. It arises naturally from Kontsevich's stable map compactification of moduli spaces of maps from curves into projective manifolds. The structures of admissible data help reduce many counting problems to checking certain combinatorial structure of a compactification. The mirror transformation of Candelas et al turns out to be a transformation between two admissible data associated respectively to the linear and the non-linear

In this paper we construct a new time-periodic solution of the vacuum Einsteins field equations, this solution possesses physical singularities, i.e., the norm of the solutions Riemann curvature tensor takes the infinity at some points. We show that this solution is intrinsically time-periodic and describes a time-periodic universe with the time-periodic physical singularity. By calculating the Weyl scalars of this solution, we investigate new physical phenomena and analyze new singularities for this universal model.

In this paper, we construct several kinds of new time-periodic solutions of the vacuum Einsteins field equations whose Riemann curvature tensors vanish, keep finite or take the infinity at some points in these space-times, respectively. The singularities of these new time-periodic solutions are investigated and some new physical phenomena are discovered.

We consider the discrete Laplacian $\Delta$ on the cubic lattice $\mathbb{Z}^d$, and deduce estimates on the group $e^{i t \Delta}$ and the resolvent $(\Delta-z)^{-1}$, weighted by $\ell^q (\mathbb{Z}^d)$-weights for suitable $q \geqslant 2$. We apply the obtained results to discrete Schrödinger operators in dimension $d \geqslant 3$ with potentials from $\ell^p (\mathbb{Z}^d)$ with suitable $p \geqslant1$.

We construct families of two-dimensional travelling water waves propagating under the influence of gravity in a flow of constant vorticity over a flat bed, in particular establishing the existence of waves of large amplitude. A Riemann–Hilbert problem approach is used to recast the governing equations as a one-dimensional elliptic pseudodifferential equation with a scalar constraint. The structural properties of this formulation, which arises as the Euler–Lagrange equation of an energy functional, enable us to develop a theory of analytic global bifurcation.
