We consider the discrete Laplacian $\Delta$ on the cubic lattice $\mathbb{Z}^d$, and deduce estimates on the group $e^{i t \Delta}$ and the resolvent $(\Delta-z)^{-1}$, weighted by $\ell^q (\mathbb{Z}^d)$-weights for suitable $q \geqslant 2$. We apply the obtained results to discrete Schrödinger operators in dimension $d \geqslant 3$ with potentials from $\ell^p (\mathbb{Z}^d)$ with suitable $p \geqslant1$.

We define a notion of stability for chiral ring of four dimensional N= 1 theory by introducing test chiral rings and generalized a maximization. We conjecture that a chiral ring is the chiral ring of a superconformal field theory if and only if it is stable. We then study N= 1 field theory derived from D3 branes probing a three-fold singularity X, and show that the K stability which implies the existence of Ricci-flat conic metric on X is equivalent to the stability of chiral ring of the corresponding field theory.

The original motivation for solving of the Einstein equation is to understand space-time in the absence of matter; see the essay by Tod in this volume for an overview of the mathematics of general relativity. The equation governs the manner in which space-time is inuenced by the sole force of gravity. As is well known, singularities such as black holes can occur. The study of the vacuum Einstein equations is a difficult problem in nonlinear hyperbolic systems; see the essay by Christodoulou in this volume. Complete space-times with nontrivial gravitational radiation are not well understood.

Alexandrov proved that any simplicial complex homeomorphic to a sphere with strictly non-negative Gaussian curvature at each vertex can be isometrically embedded uniquely in {{\mathbb {R}}}^{3} as a convex polyhedron. Due to the nonconstructive nature of his proof, there have yet to be any algorithms, that we know of, that realizes the Alexandrov embedding in polynomial time. Following his proof, we developed the adiabatic isometric mapping (AIM) algorithm. AIM uses a guided adiabatic pull-back procedure on a given polyhedral metric to produce an embedding that approximates the unique Alexandrov polyhedron. Tests of AIM applied to two different polyhedral metrics suggests that its run time is sub cubic with respect to the number of vertices. We explore how introducing a non-trivial Mordell-Weil group changes the structure of the Coulomb phases of a five-dimensional gauge theory from an M-theory compactified on an elliptically fibered Calabi-Yau threefolds with a I _2 + I _2 collision of singularities. The resulting gauge theory has a semi-simple Lie algebra _2 or _2 . We compute topological invariants relevant for the physics, such as the Euler characteristic, Hodge numbers, and triple intersection numbers. We determine the matter representation geometrically by computing weights via intersection of curves and fibral divisors. We fix the number of charged hypermultiplets transforming in each representations by comparing the triple intersection numbers and the one-loop prepotential. This condition is enough to fix the number of representation when the Mordell-Weil group is _2 but not when it is trivial. The vanishing of the fourth power of the curvature forms in the anomaly polynomial is enough to fix the number of representations. We discuss anomaly cancellations of the six-dimensional uplifted. In particular, the gravitational anomaly is also considered as the Hodge numbers are computed explicitly without counting the degrees of freedom of the Weierstrass equation.
