We investigate the energy landscape of the mixed even p-spin model with Ising spin configurations. We show that for any given energy level between zero and the maximal energy, with overwhelming probability there exist exponentially many distinct spin configurations such that their energies stay near this energy level. Furthermore, their magnetizations and overlaps are concentrated around some fixed constants. In particular, at the level of maximal energy, we prove that the Hamiltonian exhibits exponentially many orthogonal peaks. This improves the results of Chatterjee [20] and Ding-Eldan-Zhai [29], where the former established a logarithmic size of the number of the orthogonal peaks, while the latter proved a polynomial size. Our second main result obtains disorder chaos at zero temperature and at any external field. As a byproduct, this implies that the fluctuation of the maximal energy is superconcentrated when the external field vanishes and obeys a Gaussian limit law when the external field is present.

We consider Green's functions $G(z):=(H-z)^{-1}$ of Hermitian random band matrices $H$ on the $d$-dimensional lattice $(\Z/L\Z)^d$. The entries $h_{xy}=\overline h_{yx}$ of $H$ are independent centered complex Gaussian random variables with variances $s_{xy}=\mathbb E|h_{xy}|^2$, which satisfy a banded profile so that $s_{xy}$ is negligible if $|x-y|$ exceeds the band width $W$. For any fixed $n\in \N$, we construct an expansion of the $T$-variable, $T_{xy}=|m|^2 \sum_{\alpha}s_{x\alpha}|G_{\alpha y}|^2$, with an error $\OO(W^{-nd/2})$, and use it to prove a local law on the Green's function. This $T$-expansion was the main tool to prove the delocalization and quantum diffusion of random band matrices for dimensions $d\ge 8$ in part I \cite{PartI_high} of this series.

We consider the edge statistics of large dimensional deformed rectangular matrices of the form $Y_t=Y+\sqrt{t}X,$ where $Y$ is a $p \times n$ deterministic signal matrix whose rank is comparable to $n$, $X$ is a $p\times n$ random noise matrix with centered i.i.d. entries with variance $n^{-1}$, and $t>0$ gives the noise level. This model is referred to as the interference-plus-noise matrix in the study of massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system, which belongs to the category of the so-called signal-plus-noise model. For the case $t=1$, the spectral statistics of this model have been studied to a certain extent in the literature \cite{DOZIER20071099,DOZIER2007678,VLM2012}. In this paper, we study the singular value and singular vector statistics of $Y_t$ around the right-most edge of the singular value spectrum in the harder regime $n^{-2/3}\ll t \ll 1$. This regime is harder than the $t=1$ case, because on one hand, the edge behavior of the empirical spectral distribution (ESD) of $YY^\top$ has a strong effect on the edge statistics of $Y_tY_t^\top$ since $t\ll 1$ is ``small", while on the other hand, the edge statistics of $Y_t$ is also not merely a perturbation of those of $Y$ since $t\gg n^{-2/3}$ is ``large". Under certain regularity assumptions on $Y,$ we prove the edge universality, eigenvalues rigidity and eigenvector delocalization for the matrices $Y_tY_t^\top$ and $Y_t^\top Y_t$. These results can be used to estimate and infer the massive MIMO system. To prove the main results, we analyze the edge behavior of the asymptotic ESD for $Y_tY_t^\top$, and establish some sharp local laws on the resolvent of $Y_tY_t^\top$. These results can be of independent interest, and used as useful inputs for many other problems regarding the spectral statistics of $Y_t$.

Loewner’s equation provides a way to encode a simply connected domain or equivalently its uniformizing conformal map via a real-valued driving function of its boundary. The first main result of the present paper is that the Dirichlet energy of this driving function (also known as the Loewner energy) is equal to the Dirichlet energy of the log-derivative of the (appropriately defined) uniformizing conformal map. This description of the Loewner energy then enables to tie direct links with regularized determinants and Teichmüller theory: We show that for smooth simple loops, the Loewner energy can be expressed in terms of the zeta-regularized determinants of a certain Neumann jump operator. We also show that the family of finite Loewner energy loops coincides with the Weil–Petersson class of quasicircles, and that the Loewner energy equals to a multiple of the universal Liouville action introduced by Takhtajan and Teo, which is a Kähler potential for the Weil–Petersson metric on the Weil–Petersson Teichmüller space.
