This paper discusses two common techniques in functional analysis: the topological method and the bornological method. In terms of Pietsch's operator ideals, we establish the equivalence of the notions of operators, topologies and bornologies. The approaches in the study of locally convex spaces of Grothendieck (via Banach space operators), Randtke (via continuous seminorms) and Hogbe-Nlend (via convex bounded sets) are compared.

We prove that in a closed manifold of dimension between 3 and 7 with a bumpy metric, the min-max minimal hypersurfaces associated with the volume spectrum introduced by Gromov, Guth, Marques-Neves, are two-sided and have multiplicity one. This confirms a conjecture by Marques-Neves. We prove that in a bumpy metric each volume spectrum is realized by the min-max value of certain relative homotopy class of sweepouts of boundaries of Caccioppoli sets. The main result follows by approximating such min-max value using the min-max theory for hypersurfaces with prescribed mean curvature established by the author with Zhu.

We propose a general construction of commuting projector lattice models for 2D and 3D topological phases enriched by U(1) symmetry, with finite-dimensional Hilbert space per site. The construction starts from a commuting projector model of the topological phase and decorates U(1) charges to the state space in a consistent manner. We show that all 2D U(1) symmetry-enriched topological phases which allow gapped boundary without breaking symmetry, can be realized through our construction. We also construct a large class of 3D topological phases with U(1) symmetry fractionalized on particles or loop excitations.

We classify the Ext-quivers of hearts in the bounded derived category D(A_n) and the finite-dimensional derived category D(\Gamma_N A_n) of the Calabi-Yau-N Ginzburg algebra D(\Gamma_N A_n). This provides the classification for Buan-Thomas' colored quiver for higher clusters of A-type. We also give explicit combinatorial constructions from a binary tree with n+2 leaves to a torsion pair in mod k\overrightarrow{A_n} and a cluster tilting set in the corresponding cluster category, for the straight oriented A-type quiver \overrightarrow{A_n}. As an application, we show that the orientation of the n-dimensional ssociahedron induced by poset structure of binary trees coincides with the orientation induced by poset structure of torsion pairs in mod k\overrightarrow{A_n} (under the correspondence above).
