We propose Gaussian-beam based Eulerian methods to compute semi-classical solutions of the Schrdinger equation. Traditional Gaussian beam type methods for the Schrdinger equation are based on the Lagrangian ray tracing. Based on the first Eulerian Gaussian beam framework proposed in Leung et al.[S. Leung, J. Qian, R. Burridge, Eulerian Gaussian beams for high frequency wave propagation, Geophysics 72 (2007) SM61SM76], we develop a new Eulerian Gaussian beam method which uses global Cartesian coordinates, level-set based implicit representation and Liouville equations. The resulting method gives uniformly distributed phases and amplitudes in phase space simultaneously. To obtain semi-classical solutions to the Schrdinger equation with different initial wave functions, we only need to slightly modify the summation formula. In this paper, we investigate the geometric properties of random hyperbolic surfaces of large genus. We describe the relationship between the behavior of lengths of simple closed geodesics on a hyperbolic surface and properties of the moduli space of such surfaces. First, we study the asymptotic behavior of Weil-Petersson volume Vg,n of the moduli spaces of hyperbolic surfaces of genus g with n punctures as g → ∞. Then we discuss basic geometric properties of a random hyperbolic surface of genus g with respect to the Weil-Petersson measure as g → ∞.

We study convolution groups generated by completely monotone sequences and completely monotone functions. Using a convolution group, we define a fractional calculus for a certain class of distributions. When acting on causal functions, this definition agrees with the traditional Riemann-Liouville definition for t>0 but includes some singularities at t=0 so that the group property holds. Using this group, we are able to extend the definition of Caputo derivatives of order in (0,1) to a certain class of locally integrable functions without using the first derivative. The group property allows us to de-convolve the fractional differential equations to integral equations with completely monotone kernels, which then enables us to prove the general Gronwall inequality (or comparison principle) with the most general conditions. This then opens the door of a priori energy estimates of fractional PDEs. Some other fundamental results for fractional ODEs are also established within this frame under very weak conditions. Besides, we also obtain some interesting results about completely monotone sequences.

In this paper we integrate semi-local patches and the weighted graph Laplacian into the framework of the low dimensional manifold model. This approach is much faster than the original LDMM algorithm. The number of iterations is typically reduced from 100 to 10 and the equations in each step are much easier to solve. This new approach is tested in image inpainting and denoising and the results are better than the original LDMM and competitive with state-of-the-art methods.
