We present a novel solution to automatic semantic modeling of indoor scenes from a sparse set of low-quality RGB-D images. Such data presents challenges due to noise, low resolution, occlusion and missing depth information. We exploit the knowledge in a scene database containing 100s of indoor scenes with over 10,000 manually segmented and labeled mesh models of objects. In seconds, we output a visually plausible 3D scene, adapting these models and their parts to fit the input scans. Contextual relationships learned from the database are used to constrain reconstruction, ensuring semantic compatibility between both object models and parts. Small objects and objects with incomplete depth information which are difficult to recover reliably are processed with a two-stage approach. Major objects are recognized first, providing a known scene structure. 2D contour-based model retrieval is then used to recover smaller objects. Evaluations using our own data and two public datasets show that our approach can model typical real-world indoor scenes efficiently and robustly.

Let $D$ be a Dedekind scheme with the characteristic of all residue fields not equal to 2. To every tame cover $C\to D$ with only odd ramification we associate a second Stiefel-Whitney class in the second cohomology with mod 2 coefficients of a certain tame orbicurve $[D]$ associated to $D$ . This class is then related to the pull-back of the second Stiefel-Whitney class of the push-forward of the line bundle of half of the ramification divisor. This shows (indirectly) that our Stiefel-Whitney class is the pull-back of a sum of cohomology classes considered by Esnault, Kahn and Viehweg in ‘Coverings with odd ramification and Stiefel-Whitney classes’. Perhaps more importantly, in the case of a proper and smooth curve over an algebraically closed field, our Stiefel-Whitney class is shown to be the pull-back of an invariant considered by Serre in ‘Revêtements à ramification impaire et thêta-caractéristiques’, and in this case our arguments give a new proof of the main result of that article.

In deconvolution in R^d, d≥1, with mixing density p(∈\mathscr{P}) and kernel h, the mixture density f_p(∈\mathscr{F}_p) is estimated with MDE f_{\hat{p}n}, having upper L1-error rate, an, in probability or in risk; \hat{p}_n∈\mathscr{P}. In one application, \mathscr{P} consists of L1-separable densities in R with differences changing sign at most J times and h(x−y) Totally Positive. When h is known and p is \tilde{q}-smooth, vanishing outside a compact in R^d, plug-in upper bounds are provided for the L2-error rate of \hat{p}_n and its [s]-th mixed partial derivative \hat{p}^{(s)}_n, via ∥f_{\hat{p}_n}−f_p∥_1, with rates (log a^{−1}_n)^{−N_1} and a^{N_2}_n, respectively, for h super-smooth and smooth; \tilde{q}∈R^+, [s] ≤ \tilde{q}, d≥1, N_1>0, N_2>0. For a_n ∼ (logn)^ζ⋅(n^{−δ}), the former rate is optimal for any δ>0 and the latter misses the optimal by the factor (logn)^ξ when δ=.5; ζ>0, ξ>0. N_1 and N_2 appear in optimal rates and lower error and risk bounds in the deconvolution literature.

Getzler-Jones-Petrack introduced $A_\infty$ structures on the equivariant complex for manifold $M$ with smooth $\mathbb{S}^1$ action, motivated by geometry of loop spaces. Applying Witten's deformation by Morse functions followed by homological perturbation we obtained a new set of $A_\infty$ structures. We extend and prove Fukaya's conjecture relating this Witten's deformed equivariant de Rham complexes, to a new Morse theoretical $A_\infty$ complexes defined by counting gradient trees with jumping which are closely related to the $\mathbb{S}^1$ equivariant symplectic cohomology proposed by Siedel.

We develop a general theory of canonical bases for quantum symmetric pairs (U, U^i) with parameters of arbitrary finite type. We construct new canonical bases for the simple integrable U-modules and their tensor products regarded as U^i-modules. We also construct a canonical basis for the modified form of the i-quantum group U^i. To that end, we establish several new structural results on quantum symmetric pairs, such as bilinear forms, braid group actions, integral forms, Levi subalgebras (of real rank one), and integrality of the intertwiners.
