Let X be a locally compact Hausdorff space, and T be a disjointness preserving bounded linear operator on C0 (X). We give a sufficient and necessary condition of T being power compact. Moreover, a description of eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of T is given.

The paper studies estimation of partially linear hazard regression models with varying coefficients for multivariate survival data. A profile pseudopartiallikelihood estimation method is proposed. The estimation of the parameters of the linear part is accomplished via maximization of the profile pseudopartiallikelihood, whereas the varyingcoefficient functions are considered as nuisance parameters that are profiled out of the likelihood. It is shown that the estimators of the parameters are root <i>n</i> consistent and the estimators of the nonparametric coefficient functions achieve optimal convergence rates. Asymptotic normality is obtained for the estimators of the finite parameters and varyingcoefficient functions. Consistent estimators of the asymptotic variances are derived and empirically tested, which facilitate inference for the model. The subject of the paper is Schrdinger operators on tree graphs which are radial, having the branching number bn at all the vertices at the distance tn from the root. We consider a family of coupling conditions at the vertices characterized by (bn1)2+4 real parameters. We prove that if the graph is sparse so that there is a subsequence of {tn+1tn} growing to infinity, in the absence of the potential the absolutely continuous spectrum is empty for a large subset of these vertex couplings, but on the the other hand, there are cases when the spectrum of such a Schrdinger operator can be purely absolutely continuous.

Properties of the subset of polygonal paths in the Hilbert space of paths referring to a<i>d</i>-dimensional quantum-mechanical system are examined. The results are used to discuss various types of polygonal-path approximations appearing in the functional-integration theory. The uniform approximation is applied to extend the definition of the Feynman maps from our previous paper and to prove consistency of this extension. Relations of the extended<i>F</i> _<i>i</i> map to the Wiener integral are given.
