We study five-dimensional superconformal field theories and their holographic dual, matter-coupled Romans supergravity. On the one hand, some recently derived formulae allow us to extract the central charges from deformations of the supersymmetric five-sphere partition function, whose large N expansion can be computed using matrix model techniques. On the other hand, the conformal and flavor central charges can be extracted from the six-dimensional supergravity action, by carefully analyzing its embedding into type I’ string theory. The results match on the two sides of the holographic duality. Our results also provide analytic evidence for the symmetry enhancement in five-dimensional superconformal field theories.

The notion of generating topologies, introduced by Stephani El0], is useful for studying the injective hull of an operator ideal. Using Randtke's idea (see [8, p. 90] or [12,(3.2. 1) and (3.2. 7)]), we can characterize generating topologies in terms of seminorms which satisfy some expected properties (see Lemma 3.3 and Theorems 3.4 and 3.9). By a well-known and useful idea of Grothendieck, the dual notions of generating topologies and ideal-topologies, the so-called generating bornologies, are given and studied in Sect. 4. In term of ideal-bornologies, the surjective hull of an operator ideal on Banach spaces is given (see Lemma 4.8 and Theorem 4.10). In terms of these two dual concepts, we are able to classify locally convex spaces, and to study their dual results. For instance, we show that if 9.1 is a symmetric (resp. completely symmetric) operator ideal on Banach spaces then a Banach space E is an 9~-topological

Let M be a compact Criemannian manifold of nonpositive curvature1 and with fundamental group . It is well known [8, p. 102] that M is a K (, 1) and thus completely determined up to homotopy type by . In light of this fact it is natural to ask to what extent the riemannian structure of M is determined by the structure of , and the intent of this paper is to demonstrate that rather strong implications of this sort exist. In the case that M has strictly negative curvature, the group is known to be highly noncommutative. Every abelian, in fact, every solvable, subgroup of is cyclic [3]. It is therefore a plausible conjecture that in the nonpositive curvature case, will possess large amounts of commutativity only under special geometric circumstances. We shall show that this is true, that indeed those properties of which involve commutativity have a dramatic reflection in the riemannian structure of M.

The notion of a vector space is obtained by axiomatization of the properties of the threedimensional space of Euclidean geometry, or of configuration spaces of classical mechanics. A vector (or linear) space V is a set {x, y,...} equipped with the operations of summation,[x, y] x+ y V, and multiplication by a complex or real number ,[, x] x V, such that (i) The summation is commutative, x+ y= y+ x, and associative,(x+ y)+ z= x+(y+ z). We study out-of-time ordered four-point functions in two dimensional conformal field theories by suitably analytically continuing the Euclidean correlator. For large central charge theories with a sparse spectrum, chaotic dynamics is revealed in an exponential decay; this is seen directly in the contribution of the vacuum block to the correlation function. However, contributions from individual non-vacuum blocks with large spin and small twist dominate over the vacuum block. We argue, based on holographic intuition, that suitable summations over such intermediate states in the block decomposition of the correlator should be sub-dominant, and attempt to use this criterion to constrain the OPE data with partial success. Along the way we also discuss the relation between the spinning Virasoro blocks and the on-shell worldline action of spinning particles in an asymptotically AdS spacetime.
