Let Mp(2n) be the metaplectic covering of Sp(2n) over a local field of characteristic zero. The core of the theory of endoscopy for Mp(2n) is the geometric transfer of orbital integrals to its elliptic endoscopic groups. The dual of this map, called the spectral transfer, is expected to yield endoscopic character relations which should reveal the internal structure of L-packets. As a first step, we characterize the image of the collective geometric transfer in the non-archimedean case, then reduce the spectral transfer to the case of cuspidal test functions by using a simple stable trace formula. In the archimedean case, we establish the character relations and determine the spectral transfer factors by rephrasing the works by Adams and Renard.

The influences of non-Oberbeck-Boussinesq (NOB) effects on flow instabilities and bifurcation characteristics of Rayleigh-Benard convection are examined. The working fluid is air with reference Prandtl number Pr = 0.71 and contained in two-dimensional rigid cavities of finite aspect ratios. The fluid flow is governed by the low-Mach-number equations, accounting for the NOB effects due to large temperature difference involving flow compressibility and variations of fluid viscosity and thermal conductivity with temperature. The intensity of NOB effects is measured by the dimensionless temperature differential epsilon. Linear stability analysis of the thermal conduction state is performed. An epsilon(2) scaling of the leading-order corrections of critical Rayleigh number Ra-cr and disturbance growth rate sigma due to NOB effects is identified, which is a consequence of an intrinsic symmetry of the system. The influences of weak NOB effects on flow instabilities are further studied by perturbation expansion of linear stability equations with regard to epsilon, and then the influence of aspect ratio A is investigated in detail. NOB effects are found to enhance (weaken) flow stability in large (narrow) cavities. Detailed contributions of compressibility, viscosity and buoyancy actions on disturbance kinetic energy growth are identified quantitatively by energy analysis. Besides, a weakly nonlinear theory is developed based on centre-manifold reduction to investigate the NOB influences on bifurcation characteristics near convection onset, and amplitude equations are constructed for both codimension-one and -two cases. Rich bifurcation regimes are observed based on amplitude equations and also confirmed by direct numerical simulation. Weakly nonlinear analysis is useful for organizing and understanding these simulation results.

We use techniques from both real and complex algebraic geometry to study$K$-theoretic and related invariants of the algebra$C$($X$) of continuous complex-valued functions on a compact Hausdorff topological space$X$. For example, we prove a parameterized version of a theorem by Joseph Gubeladze; we show that if$M$is a countable, abelian, cancellative, torsion-free, semi-normal monoid, and$X$is contractible, then every finitely generated projective module over$C$($X$)[$M$] is free. The particular case $$ M = \mathbb{N}_0^n $$ gives a parameterized version of the celebrated theorem proved independently by Daniel Quillen and Andrei Suslin that finitely generated projective modules over a polynomial ring over a field are free. The conjecture of Jonathan Rosenberg which predicts the homotopy invariance of the negative algebraic$K$-theory of$C$($X$) follows from the particular case $$ M = {\mathbb{Z}^n} $$ . We also give algebraic conditions for a functor from commutative algebras to abelian groups to be homotopy invariant on$C$^{*}-algebras, and for a homology theory of commutative algebras to vanish on$C$^{*}-algebras. These criteria have numerous applications. For example, the vanishing criterion applied to nil$K$-theory implies that commutative$C$^{*}-algebras are$K$-regular. As another application, we show that the familiar formulas of Hochschild–Kostant–Rosenberg and Loday–Quillen for the algebraic Hochschild and cyclic homology of the coordinate ring of a smooth algebraic variety remain valid for the algebraic Hochschild and cyclic homology of$C$($X$). Applications to the conjectures of Beĭlinson-Soulé and Farrell–Jones are also given.

In this paper, combining the $p$-capacity for $p\in (1, n)$ with the Orlicz addition of convex domains, we develop the $p$-capacitary Orlicz-Brunn-Minkowski theory. In particular, the Orlicz $L_{\phi}$ mixed $p$-capacity of two convex domains is introduced and its geometric interpretation is obtained by the $p$-capacitary Orlicz-Hadamard variational formula. The $p$-capacitary Orlicz-Brunn-Minkowski and Orlicz-Minkowski inequalities are established, and the equivalence of these two inequalities are discussed as well. The $p$-capacitary Orlicz-Minkowski problem is proposed and solved under some mild conditions on the involving functions and measures. In particular, we provide the solutions for the normalized $p$-capacitary $L_q$ Minkowski problems with $q>1$ for both discrete and general measures.

Let $K$ be a self-similar set satisfying the open set condition. Following Kaimanovich’s elegant idea, it has been proved that on the symbolic space $X$ of $K$ a natural augmented tree structure $E$ exists; it is hyperbolic, and the hyperbolic boundary $\partial_H X$ with the Gromov metric is H\"older equivalent to $K$. In this paper we consider certain reversible random walks with return ratio $0 < \lambda < 1$ on $(X,E)$. We show that the Martin boundary ${\mathcal M}$ can be identified with $\partial_H X$ and $K$. With this setup and a device of Silverstein, we obtain precise estimates of the Martin kernel and the Na\"im kernel in terms of the Gromov product. Moreover, the Naïm kernel turns out to be a jump kernel satisfying the estimate $\Theta (\xi,\eta) \asymp |\xi-\eta|^{-(\alpha+\beta)}$, where $\alpha$ is the Hausdorff dimension of $K$ and $\beta$ depends on $\lambda$. For suitable $\beta$, the kernel defines a regular non-local Dirichlet form on $K$. This extends the results of Kigami concerning random walks on certain trees with Cantor-type sets as boundaries.
