Let$S$be a closed Shimura variety uniformized by the complex$n$-ball associated with a standard unitary group. The Hodge conjecture predicts that every Hodge class in $${H^{2k} (S, \mathbb{Q})}$$ , $${k=0,\dots, n}$$ , is algebraic. We show that this holds for all degrees$k$away from the neighborhood $${\bigl]\tfrac13n,\tfrac23n\bigr[}$$ of the middle degree. We also prove the Tate conjecture for the same degrees as the Hodge conjecture and the generalized form of the Hodge conjecture in degrees away from an interval (depending on the codimension$c$of the subvariety) centered at the middle dimension of S. These results are derived from a general theorem that applies to all Shimura varieties associated with standard unitary groups of any signature. The proofs make use of Arthur’s endoscopic classification of automorphic representations of classical groups. As such our results rely on the stabilization of the trace formula for the (disconnected) groups $${GL (N) \rtimes \langle \theta \rangle}$$ associated with base change.

Let S be a projective simply connected complex surface and  be a line bundle on S. We study the moduli space of stable compactly supported 2-dimensional sheaves on the total spaces of . The moduli space admits a ℂ∗-action induced by scaling the fibers of . We identify certain components of the fixed locus of the moduli space with the moduli space of torsion free sheaves and the nested Hilbert schemes on S. We define the localized Donaldson-Thomas invariants of  by virtual localization in the case that  twisted by the anti-canonical bundle of S admits a nonzero global section. When pg(S)>0, in combination with Mochizuki's formulas, we are able to express the localized DT invariants in terms of the invariants of the nested Hilbert schemes defined by the authors in [GSY17a], the Seiberg-Witten invariants of S, and the integrals over the products of Hilbert schemes of points on S. When  is the canonical bundle of S, the Vafa-Witten invariants defined recently by Tanaka-Thomas, can be extracted from these localized DT invariants. VW invariants are expected to have modular properties as predicted by S-duality.

In this paper, we study intermittent behaviors of coupled piecewise-expanding map lattices with two nodes and a weak coupling. We show that the successive phase transition between ordered and disordered phases occurs for almost every orbit. That is, we prove $\liminf_{n\rightarrow \infty}| x_1(n)-x_2(n)|=0$ and $\limsup_{n\rightarrow \infty}| x_1(n)-x_2(n)|\ge c_0>0$, where $x_1(n), x_2(n)$ correspond to the coordinates of two nodes at the iterative step $n$. We also prove the same conclusion for weakly coupled tent-map lattices with any multi-nodes.

We annnounce a proof of the fact that a K-stable Fano manifold admits a Kahler-Einstein metric and give a brief outline of the proof.

We consider localized deformation for initial data sets of the Einstein field equations with the dominant energy condition. Deformation results with the weak inequality need to be handled delicately. We introduce a modified constraint operator to absorb the first order change of the metric in the dominant energy condition. By establishing the local surjectivity theorem, we can promote the dominant energy condition to the strict inequality by compactly supported variations and obtain new gluing results with the dominant energy condition. The proof of local surjectivity is a modification of the earlier work for the usual constraint map by the first named author and R. Schoen and by P. Chru\'sciel and E. Delay, with some refined analysis.
