Let (X, g) be a compact Riemannian manifold with quasi-positive Riemannian scalar curvature. If there exists a complex structure J compatible with g, then the Kodaira dimension of (X, J) is equal to −∞ and the canonical bundle KX is not pseudo-effective. We also introduce the complex Yamabe number λc(X) for compact complex manifold X, and show that if λ_c(X) is greater than 0, then κ(X) is equal to −∞; moreover, if X is also spin, then the Hirzebruch A-hat genus \hat{A}(X) is zero.

We prove an analogue of the Madsen–Weiss theorem for high-dimensional manifolds. In particular, we explicitly describe the ring of characteristic classes of smooth fibre bundles whose fibres are connected sums of$g$copies of$S$^{$n$}×$S$^{$n$}, in the limit $${g \to \infty}$$ . Rationally it is a polynomial ring in certain explicit generators, giving a high-dimensional analogue of Mumford’s conjecture.

We find some necessary conditions for a real Banach space to be an almost CL-space. We also discuss the stability of CL-spaces and almost CL-spaces by$c$_{0}- and$l$_{1}-sums. Finally, we address the question if a space of vector-valued continuous functions can be a CL-space or an almost CL-space.

In this paper, we introduce the $L_p$ geominimal surface area for all $-n\neq p<1$, which extends the classical geominimal surface area ($p=1$) by Petty and the $L_p$ geominimal surface area by Lutwak ($p>1$). Our extension of the $L_p$ geominimal surface area is motivated by recent work on the extension of the $L_p$ affine surface area -- a fundamental object in (affine) convex geometry. We prove some properties for the $L_p$ geominimal surface area and its related inequalities, such as, the affine isoperimetric inequality and a Santal\'{o} style inequality. Cyclic inequalities are established to obtain the monotonicity of the $L_p$ geominimal surface areas. Comparison between the $L_p$ geominimal surface area and the $p$-surface area is also provided.
