We consider Hermitian random band matrices $H=(h_{xy})$ on the $d$-dimensional lattice $(\Z/L\Z)^d$. The entries $h_{xy}$ are independent (up to Hermitian conditions) centered complex Gaussian random variables with variances $s_{xy}=\mathbb E|h_{xy}|^2$. The variance matrix $S=(s_{xy})$ has a banded structure so that $s_{xy}$ is negligible if $|x-y|$ exceeds the band width $W$. In dimensions $d\ge 8$, we prove that, as long as $W\ge L^\e$ for a small constant $\e>0$, with high probability most bulk eigenvectors of $H$ are delocalized in the sense that their localization lengths are comparable to $L$. Denote by $G(z)=(H-z)^{-1}$ the Green's function of $H$. For $\im z\gg W^2/L^2$, we also prove a widely used criterion in physics for quantum diffusion of this model, namely, the leading term in the Fourier transform of $\E|G_{xy}(z)|^2$ with respect to $x-y$ is of the form $(\im z + a(p))^{-1}$ for some $a(p)$ quadratic in $p$, where $p$ is the Fourier variable. Our method is based on an expansion of $T_{xy}=|m|^2 \sum_{\alpha}s_{x\alpha}|G_{\alpha y}|^2$ and it requires a self-energy renormalization up to error $W^{-K}$ for any large constant $K$ independent of $W$ and $L$. We expect that this method can be extended to non-Gaussian band matrices.

The universality for the eigenvalue spacing statistics of generalized Wigner matrices was established in our previous work \cite{EYY} under certain conditions on the probability distributions of the matrix elements. A major class of probability measures excluded in \cite{EYY} are the Bernoulli measures. In this paper, we extend the universality result of \cite{EYY} to include the Bernoulli measures so that the only restrictions on the probability distributions of the matrix elements are the subexponential decay and the normalization condition that the variances in each row sum up to one. The new ingredient is a strong local semicircle law which improves the error estimate on the Stieltjes transform of the empirical measure of the eigenvalues from the order $(N \eta)^{-1/2}$ to $(N \eta)^{-1}$. Here $\eta$ is the imaginary part of the spectral parameter in the definition of the Stieltjes transform and $N$ is the size of the matrix.

Almost toric manifolds form a class of singular Lagrangian fibered symplectic manifolds that include both toric manifolds and the K3 surface. We classify closed almost toric four-manifolds up to diffeomorphism and indicate precisely the structure of all almost toric fibrations of closed symplectic four-manifolds. A key step in the proof is a geometric classification of the singular integral affine structures that can occur on the base of an almost toric fibration of a closed four-manifold. As a byproduct we provide a geometric explanation for why a generic Lagrangian fibration over the two-sphere must have 24 singular fibers.

In this paper, a dual Orlicz–Brunn–Minkowski theory is presented. An Orlicz radial sum and dual Orlicz mixed volumes are introduced. The dual Orlicz–Minkowski inequality and the dual Orlicz–Brunn–Minkowski inequality are estab-lished. The variational formula for the volume with respect to the Orlicz radial sum is proved. The equivalence between the dual Orlicz–Minkowski inequality and the dual Orlicz–Brunn–Minkowski inequality is demonstrated. Orlicz intersection bodies are defined and the Orlicz–Busemann–Petty problem is posed.
