We consider manifolds with conic singularities that are isometric to Rn outside a compact set. Under natural geometric assumptions on the cone points, we prove the existence of a logarithmic resonance-free region for the cut-off resolvent. The estimate also applies to the exterior domains of non-trapping polygons via a doubling process. The proof of the resolvent estimate relies on the propagation of singularities theorems of Melrose and the second author [23] to establish a “very weak” Huygens’ principle, which may be of independent interest. As applications of the estimate, we obtain a exponential local energy decay and a resonance wave expansion in odd dimensions, as well as a lossless local smoothing estimate for the Schr¨odinger equation.

We establish several conditions, sufficient for a set to be (quasi)conformally removable, a property important in holomorphic dynamics. This is accomplished by proving removability theorems for Sobolev spaces in$R$^{$n$}. The resulting conditions are close to optimal.

Decomposable mappings from the space of symmetric$k$-fold tensors over$E$, $\bigotimes_{s,k}E$ , to the space of$k$-fold tensors over$F$, $\bigotimes_{s,k}F$ , are those linear operators which map nonzero decomposable elements to nonzero decomposable elements. We prove that any decomposable mapping is induced by an injective linear operator between the spaces on which the tensors are defined. Moreover, if the decomposable mapping belongs to a given operator ideal, then so does its inducing operator. This result allows us to classify injective linear operators between spaces of homogeneous approximable polynomials and between spaces of nuclear polynomials which map rank-1 polynomials to rank-1 polynomials.

Stein’s higher Riesz transforms are translation invariant operators on$L$^{2}($R$^{$n$}) built from multipliers whose restrictions to the unit sphere are eigenfunctions of the Laplace–Beltrami operators. In this article, generalizing Stein’s higher Riesz transforms, we construct a family of translation invariant operators by using discrete series representations for hyperboloids associated to the indefinite quadratic form of signature ($p$,$q$). We prove that these operators extend to$L$^{$r$}-bounded operators for 1<$r$<∞ if the parameter of the discrete series representations is generic.
