In this paper we study the Euler-Poincar\'{e} equations in $\Bbb R^N$. We prove local existence of weak solutions in $W^{2,p}(\Bbb R^N),$ $p>N$, and local existence of unique classical solutions in $H^k (\Bbb R^N)$, $k>N/2+3$, as well as a blow-up criterion. For the zero dispersion equation($\alpha=0$) we prove a finite time blow-up of the classical solution. We also prove that as the dispersion parameter vanishes, the weak solution converges to a solution of the zero dispersion equation with sharp rate as $\alpha\to0$, provided that the limiting solution belongs to $C([0, T);H^k(\Bbb R^N))$ with $k>N/2 +3$. For the {\em stationary weak solutions} of the Euler-Poincar\'{e} equations we prove a Liouville type theorem. Namely, for $\alpha>0$ any weak solution $\mathbf{u}\in H^1(\Bbb R^N)$ is $\mathbf{u}=0$; for $\alpha=0$ any weak solution $\mathbf{u}\in L^2(\Bbb R^N)$ is $\mathbf{u}=0$.

In this paper, we study existence of global entropy weak solutions to a critical-case unstable thin lm equation in one-dimensional case ht + @x(h n @xxxh) + @x(h n+2@xh) = 0; where n  1. There exists a critical mass Mc = 2 p 6 3 found by Witelski etal. (2004 Euro. J. of Appl. Math. 15, 223{256) for n = 1. We obtain global existence of a non-negative entropy weak solution if initial mass is less than Mc. For n  4, entropy weak solutions are positive and unique. For n = 1,a nite time blow-up occurs for solutions with initial mass larger than Mc.For the Cauchy problem with n = 1 and initial mass less than Mc, we show that at least one of the following long-time behavior holds: the second moment goes to innity as the time goes to innity or h(
; tk) * 0 in L1 (R) for some subsequence tk ! 1.

We study the asymptotic spreading of KolmogorovPetrovskyPiskunov (KPP) fronts in spacetime random incompressible flows in dimension d> 1. We prove that if the flow field is stationary, ergodic, and obeys a suitable moment condition, the large time front speeds (spreading rates) are deterministic in all directions for compactly supported initial data. The flow field can become unbounded at large times. The front speeds are characterized by the convex rate function governing large deviations of the associated diffusion in the random flow. Our proofs are based on the Harnack inequality, an application of the sub-additive ergodic theorem, and the construction of comparison functions. Using the variational principles for the front speed, we obtain general lower and upper bounds of front speeds in terms of flow statistics. The bounds show that front speed enhancement in incompressible flows can grow at most linearly in the root mean square amplitude of the flows, and may have much slower growth due to rapid temporal decorrelation of the flows.

Let G=(V,E) be a locally finite connected weighted graph, and Ω be an unbounded subset of V. Using Rothe's method, we study the existence of solutions for the semilinear heat equation ∂_t u+|u|^{p−1}⋅u=Δu (p≥1) and the parabolic variational inequality ∫_{Ω^∘} ∂_t u⋅(v−u)dμ ≥ ∫_{Ω^∘} (Δu+f)⋅(v−u)dμ for any v∈H, where H={u∈W^{1,2}(V):u=0 on V∖Ω^∘}.

An elliptic equation arising from the study o fstatic solutions with prescribed zeros and poles of the Einstein equations coupled with the classical sigma model and an Abelian gauge field, is considered. We classify the solutions and establish the uniqueness of radially symmetric solutions. We also complete a classification of symmetric solutions of an elliptic equation on the sphere.
