We study the moduli space M of torsion-free G2-structures on a fixed compact manifold M7, and define its associated universal intermediate Jacobian J . We define the Yukawa coupling and relate it to a natural pseudo-K¨ahler structure on J . We consider natural Chern–Simons-type functionals, whose critical points give associative and coassociative cycles (calibrated submanifolds coupled with Yang–Mills connections), and also deformed Donaldson–Thomas connections. We show that the moduli spaces of these structures can be isotropically immersed in J by means of G2-analogues of Abel–Jacobi maps.

We characterize H¨older continuously differentiable m dimensional submanifolds of Euclidean space among m rectifiable sets S in terms of growth conditions on the m density ratios of the Hausdorff measure Hm S.

An almost K\"ahler structure on a symplectic manifold (N,ω) consists of a Riemannian metric g and an almost complex structure J such that the symplectic form ω satisfies ω(⋅,⋅)=g(J(⋅),⋅) . Any symplectic manifold admits an almost K\"ahler structure and we refer to (N,ω,g,J) as an almost K\"ahler manifold. In this article, we propose a natural evolution equation to investigate the deformation of Lagrangian submanifolds in almost K\"ahler manifolds. A metric and complex connection $\hn$ on TN defines a generalized mean curvature vector field along any Lagrangian submanifold M of N . We study the evolution of M along this vector field, which turns out to be a Lagrangian deformation, as long as the connection $\hn$ satisfies an Einstein condition. This can be viewed as a generalization of the classical Lagrangian mean curvature flow in K\"ahler-Einstein manifolds where the connection $\hn$ is the Levi-Civita connection of g . Our result applies to the important case of Lagrangian submanifolds in a cotangent bundle equipped with the canonical almost K\"ahler structure and to other generalization of Lagrangian mean curvature flows, such as the flow considered by Behrndt \cite{b} in K\"ahler manifolds that are almost Einstein.

We study certain natural differential forms [] and their G equivariant extensions on the space of connections. These forms are defined using the family local index theorem. When the base manifold is symplectic, they define a family of symplectic forms on the space of connections. We will explain their relationships with the Einstein metric and the stability of vector bundles. These forms also determine primary and secondary characteristic forms (and their higher level generalizations).

In this article we define new flows on the Hitchin components for PGL(V). Special examples of these flows are associated to simple closed curves on the surface and give generalized twist flows. Other examples, so called eruption flows, are associated to pair of pants in S and capture new phenomena which are not present in the case when n=2. We determine a global coordinate system on the Hitchin component. Using the computation of the Goldman symplectic form on the Hitchin component, that is developed by two of the authors in a companion paper to this article (Sun and Zhang in The Goldman symplectic form on the PGL(V)-Hitchin component, 2017. arXiv:1709.03589), this gives a global Darboux coordinate system on the Hitchin component.
