In this paper, we study the shape of the min-max minimal hypersurface produced by Almgren-Pitts in F. Almgren, and J. Pitts, corresponding to the fundamental class of a Riemannian manifold $(M^{n+1}, g)$of positive Ricci curvature with 2 ≤ n ≤ 6. We characterize the Morse index, volume and multiplicity of this min-max hypersurface. In particular, we show that the min-max hypersurface is either orientable and of index one, or is a double cover of a non-orientable minimal hypersurface with least area among all closed embedded minimal hypersurfaces.

We construct noncompact solutions to the affine normal flow of hypersurfaces, and show that all ancient solutions must be either ellipsoids (shrinking solitons) or paraboloids (translating solitons). We also provide a new proof of the existence of a hyperbolic affine sphere asymptotic to the boundary of a convex cone containing no lines, which is originally due to Cheng-Yau. The main techniques are local second-derivative estimates for a parabolic Monge-Amp`ere equation modeled on those of Ben Andrews and Guti´errez-Huang, a decay estimate for the cubic form under the affine normal flow due to Ben Andrews, and a hypersurface barrier due to Calabi.

In this paper, we study the Atiyah class and Todd class of the DG manifold $(F[1],d_F)$ corresponding to an integrable distribution $F \subset T_\mathbb{K} M = TM \otimes_{\mathbb{R}} \mathbb{K}$, where $\mathbb{K} = \mathbb{R}$ or $\\mathbb{C}$. We show that these two classes are canonically identical to those of the Lie pair $(T_{\mathbb{K}} M, F)$. As a consequence, the Atiyah class of a complex manifold $X$ is isomorphic to the Atiyah class of the corresponding DG manifold $(T^{0,1}_X[1],\bar{\partial})$. Moreover, if $X$ is a compact K\"{a}hler manifold, then the Todd class of $X$ is also isomorphic to the Todd class of the corresponding DG manifold $(T^{0,1}_X[1],\bar{\partial})$.

We give existence results for simple closed curves with prescribed geodesic curvature on S2, which correspond to periodic orbits of a charge in a magnetic field.
